Suggesting the U.S. do the same under Pres. Obama. Yet their own article suggests just how ridiculous those budget cuts would be for a country like the United States.
If the U.S. cut one in every 12 government jobs, as Britain has done, 180,000 Americans would be laid off from work.
That's just a direct loss. The indirect losses would be staggering when you add in the cuts to social programs, education and other expenses.
Now with an already high unemployment rate and an unstable job market, is it really smart to suggest we cut almost 200,000 jobs in one fell swoop and then watch as other jobs bleed out from the subsequent cuts?
If Pres. Obama were to ever do something similar, do you think Republicans and the media would dismiss the high unemployment rate (which would balloon into the double digits, no doubt) as a justifiable means to an end?
Of course not. Yet some bemoan the high unemployment rate and yet, they still want to add to it by cutting the budget. Seems counter productive, no?
