Washington Post Poll--MD Governor: O'Malley (D) 54% Ehrlich (R) 40%
Yet another poll confirming O'Malley pulling away:

A new Washington Post poll in Maryland confirms what a Baltimore Sun poll found over the weekend: Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) is pulling away from former Gov. Bob Ehrlich (R) in their rematch for governor and leads by a whopping 14 point margin, 54% to 40%.

This Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone October 19-22, 2010, among a random sample of 2,355 adult residents of Maryland, including 1,962 registered voters and 1,434 likely voters. Interviews were conducted on both conventional and cellular phones, and in English and Spanish. The results from the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points; it is three points for the registered voter and likely voter samples. Sampling, data collection and tabulation by Abt SRBI, Inc of New York, NY.

1. This makes me so happy
I'm off to vote today. I love me some early voting in MD! Bye, bye Bob!!! I'm tempted to vote for you just to say thanks for inflicting Michael Steele on the GOP, but ... nah. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time! Pffffffffftttt!

2. Apparently, Bob's snarkiness in the debates worked against him.
I watched the first debate and could only take a few minutes of the second because Ehrlich was even more petulant and rude than he was in the first debate.

Judging from the polls, most Marylanders reached the same conclusion as I: That Marty looked and sounded like someone who deserves to be Governor; and Bob looked and sounded like someone who deserves to keep his gig as radio talk-show host, where he can spew his baseless opinions and insults and get paid big bucks for it.

7. Being mean and nasty seems to work for these teabagging women: O'Donnell and Angle,
but not for the men: Palladino, Buck, Paul, Miller.

6. This was welcome news for me, as I voted early on Saturday and was greeted
by a large number of folks voting in Montgomery County down in Rockville.

I was worried about this race because I remember how corrupt Ehrlich and his sidekick, Michael Steele were and how they engaged in Election Day fraud and was never held accountable for it.

9. You said it: Corrupt

The Roster of Ehrlich-Steele Corruption and Dirty Tricks is quite lengthy:

-- One of Ehrlich's staffers was found to be a recipient of Abramoff funds, and Ehrlich refused to fire him.

-- Another staffer (Chief of Staff, I believe) had to resign in disgrace after it was discovered during the 2006 campaign that he was spreading unfounded rumours on Internet discussion boards and elsewhere claiming that O'Malley was cheating on his wife.

-- The "Airport Scandal" where Steele's close friend and advisor, Washington lawyer Sandy Roberts, who is black, posed as an independent airport retail business owner so that airport retail giant Hudson News could meet minority participation goals at Baltimore Washington International Airport.

-- Ehrlich attempted to sell a big chunk of state-owned wilderness area in St. Mary's County to a developer who just happened to be an Ehrlich campaign contributor and who stood to make a killing off the deal.

-- Ehrlich's campaign against KKT brought down 300 poor and homeless African Americans from Philadelphia to Maryland and paid them to hand out brochures labeled "Democratic Sample Ballot." The ballots had boxes checked for Ehrlich and Senate candidate Michael S. Steele, and did not identify the two as Republicans. They also distributed handouts in Democratic neighborhoods listing the wrong date for Election Day.

-- The scandal when Gov. Ehrlich fired long-time state workers in high positions because they were Democrats so he could replace them with his supporters.

-- The big uproar when Gov. Ehrlich decided that certain major media outlets in Maryland weren't being fair to him, so he simply froze them out, providing no news access.

There is just a sampling of Ehrlich's style of politics.
