FL Gov: Sink fires advisor who sent message during her televised debate with Rick Scott
TAMPA — One of the ground rules in the debate between Republican Rick Scott and Democrat Alex Sink was that the gubernatorial candidates could not receive communications from their campaigns while the one-hour show was underway, but Sink got just such a message.

A makeup artist, during a commercial break, showed her a phone with a message coaching her on an answer.

After leaving the show, Sink's campaign put out a news release announcing that the aide had been fired.

Quoting Sink, it said: "After the debate tonight, one of my campaign advisors admitted he tried to communicate with me during one of the breaks. While he told me it was out of anger with Rick Scott's repeated distortion of facts, it was a foolish thing to do. It violated a debate agreement and I immediately removed him from the campaign.''

3. eh ...
it could have been something personal - something important with a family member or something ... If it was me, I would have assumed my staff was sticking to protocol and it was something of an important nature with my family ...

But, hey, at least they didnt' wire him up with an ear piece ...

5. Yeah ...
in public and spoke?

Like no one would hear it?

Again, if I was the candidate/office holder, I would assume it was something important and not related if a staffer gave me a note or a phone with a message on it ...

Heck, the staffer who showed it should have known better ...

Sink was terrible in the debate....that she virtually imploded.

7. I saw much of the debate and it didn't seem so to me.
Now... I was on a treadmill and the sound was off (CC), but I didn't notice her lose her cool or seem overly flustered.

9. Good. Those guys say they are independents but I have my doubts
I was hoping their assessment was their bias showing. Looks like that's the case

8. One view of textgate
Here is the reid report view of it.

http://blog.reidreport.com/2010/10/sink-textgate/
"How is it that Republicans can take a barely literate woman from Alaska, doll her up and slap a $150,000 wardrobe on her, put her on Fox News and get the entire media to believe that not only is her jumbled syntax not a sign of dim-bulbyness, but to actually see her as a credible future president, but Democrats can’t get a textbook female candidate through a debate with a guy who, but for the grace of rich man’s justice, would be a felon, without screwing up?"
