It's insane... It's an alternate universe.

It makes no sense. It doesn't add up.

Is somebody trying to blow smoke up our butts?

The media propagandists are asking, "How bad will it be? Will it be a tsunami?" How bad will the Democrats get trampled?

Less than two years after we survived the most dangerous, reckless Administration in our lives, we are ready to return to the scene of the crime? It's insane. I simply cannot fathom such lack of reason.

Is this still America? Or have aliens visited us in the middle of the night and taken over the minds of the fearful and less secure citizens amongst us?

It is unreal. I simply cannot believe it. It is too weird.

3. Couple a corporate press that loves all things "R" with the timidity of
the Dems the past two years to kick Repuke ass, and, instead, make noises about the need for "bipartisanship," and this is what we end up with.

Given the short attention span of the American public, it isn't that surprising.

4. You have a much better explanation for the stupidity with the
alien takeover than I had. I thought it was just a bunch of rats following the pied piper into the sea. I mean, really, there has to be some "reasonable" explanation.

5. Welcome to the world Obama lives in daily. Dems are the majority but Repubs rule.
By and large most Dems aren't wealthy. Repubs are and they rule the media.

7. Amen
But I just read another thread where an Angle staffer is saying: Harry Reid is going to win this election even if he has to steal it.

All of this nonsense about stolen elections by the Democratic Pary and 'tsunamis' by the Teapublicans. Well - which one is it GOP/Fox/Baggers? Make up your minds already.

8. I agree
I simply don't get it.
Are people blind?
Can they not remember the devastation of the last time Republicans seized power?
Is the PR system on the right that strong?

9. There are theories about societies going into decline after losing their vigilance
America has become souped up on its own image as the most powerful nation in the world.

Americans consume the world's resources at a disproportionately high rate despite our own internal rich/poor chasm.

Meanwhile, Americans are increasingly ignorant and incurious, and some are PROUD of it. The education system sucks and the President has acknowledged our decline relative to other countries.

And the average American struggles, but a lot of them have been fooled into understanding why, though there's no excuse for that. RW talk radio and cable programs tell the average white Joe that minorities on welfare are stealing his money, but it's his white corporate shareholder 'brother' who's bleeding him dry.

So you have people believing they're part of the American dream, but they're struggling and frustrated, and their anger has been misdirected.

They don't think they need to improve the education system; they don't know or care that other countries provide healthcare to all their citizens to the shame of this country. They've been programmed into believing that if you can't provide for yourself, you don't deserve things like basic healthcare or shelter or food, especially if you're one of those welfare minorities taking the working man's money.

And the media has no interest in keeping them informed. The owners of the media outlets and the talking heads in front of the cameras care far more about protecting their own personal financial interests than being objective.

Allowing private interests to purchase media outlets helped give cover to the capitalism and greed running amok and driving America down the drain. The Republican-majority SC has helped push it further down with their campaign finance decision.

In the end, you have a downward spiral of misinformation breeding anger breeding reactionary behavior breeding subversive government. And it will probably have to bottom out in a big way before people wake up.

We're getting closer to the bottom.

11. Propaganda is effective.
And contrary to what the RW would have you believe, there is no liberal media. The liberal media exists only in the mouth of Rush Limbaugh.

12. This rhetoric about Democrats being crushed
is in itself part of the propaganda effort. Constantly hearing this bullshit is discouraging to voters. I've seen them pull this bullshit tactic before.

13. pollsters and most pundits get paid by people with money. Don't forget the anti-cell phone bias too
they only poll people with landlines, which automatically tilts the results toward old farts and technophobes, who tend to be more conservative.

15. The willful level of ignorance in this country
has reached a level beyond my wildest imagination. Scary and frustrating at the same time. Brought on by greed, racism, and right wing control of the media with concern only about profit and power, with no concern for truth or ethics.

This is what got me involved in campaigning for Democrats in '96, and keeps me at it every two years. We just have to fight back, one person at a time against this horrible onslaught.
