if an 88 yr old woman can get out in the rain and vote
what's your excuse for not voting and supporting the POTUS?

I'm hearing that in urban areas senior citizens with more years behind them than in front of them are going to the polls to vote for Obama. It doesn't matter that he isn't on the ballot, he said he need their help and his wife said he can't do it alone. They GOT HIS BACK. These are black people who have seen and lived through things we can only imagine and read about in history books. These are people who know they may not be alive in 2012, so they are voting for him now.

Reading and hearing stories about how my elders are early voting to support the Obamas makes me feel ASHAME. Not a shame for not voting because I did and I always vote. But ashame for being so impatient.

How DARE I look into that beautiful aged black face and complain about only getting 75% of what I want in less than two years. How dare I tell her that what she lived and experienced in the 50s & 60s (so that I as a black woman can go anyway, shop anywhere, eat anywhere, live anywhere, and have the opportunity to live as WELL or as BAD as any white person is this country) was for naught!

5. Love u back sista!
Seeing and hearing this kinda puts things in perspective.

This beautiful woman waited 88 freaking years to be able to enjoy the most PROGRESSIVE administration in history and the person who was instrumental in making it happen look like he could be her grandson!

People are just starting to see how deep this is. Well the rethugs been seeing it, that's why they are all on this voter fraud in a midterm election.

6. If Obama gives you 25% of what you want, and the GOP takes everything away
Edited on Wed Oct-27-10 10:12 PM by Dawson Leery
who would you prefer? That is a fair question to ask those who are disappointed.
Thank you for voting. I for one, cannot allow these reactionary bigots to take power.

9. please improve your reading comprehension skills
I AM VOTING, and I am surely sick of the tired meme of "VOTE FOR DEMS BECAUSE REPUKES ARE FAR WORSE".

10. Did you want pure socialism?
That's the only way you couldn't have gotten 75%. The health care bill, without the public option or single payer, is still going to bring every person up to at least 75% coverage. We're 75% out of iraq. We're 75% out of this economic meltdown. WTF?

11. Some of those 88 year-olds remember people born in slavery
Think about it: born in '22, she would have been 13 in '35 and grown enough to talk sensibly sometimes to her elders; but someone who was 88 in '35 was born in '47 and was 13 or so when the Civil War broke out

14. My great uncle was able to vote for Obama
before he died. He was 89 and a WWII veteran. That's why what I saw and heard this week moved me so much.

12. YES! My aunts all went & early voted this past Sunday. They're all
in their late 70's to mid 80's. They had a ball. A coalition of black churches got together after Sunday services, went to the early voting site, and returned to my aunt's church for a feast. It was organized by a group of young college aged kids from community churches. They haven't shut up about it. LOL.

13. The Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution was Ratified on July 9, 1868
The Civil Rights Act was enacted on July 2, 1964 and the Voting Rights Act was enacted on August 6, 1965.

Do the math on that one for just a moment...

Change sometimes comes by thunderbolt or sometimes in tiny steps, but it does come...
