Obama supporters tell Caprio to "Shove It"? Falls to third place in latest poll.
NBC 10-Quest Research Poll: Caprio loses ground

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio seems to have lost support since telling the president to take his endorsement and "shove it," according to an NBC 10-Quest Research poll released Wednesday night.

The poll asked the preferences of 523 likely voters and has a margin of error of about 4 percent. The NBC 10-Quest Research poll is part of WJAR's election year partnership with Rhode Island College and the American Democracy Project.

The poll put independent Lincoln Chafee in the lead with 35 percent of the vote, followed by Republican John Robitaille with 28 percent and Caprio with 25 percent. The margin of error leaves Robitaille and Caprio in a statistical tie. Moderate Party candidate Ken Block had 2 percent. Ten percent said they were undecided.

Caprio lost 12 points since an NBC 10-Quest Research poll released Oct. 12 showed him in the lead with 37 percent, followed by Chafee and Robitaille.

Caprio, the general treasurer, said Monday that President Barack Obama can "shove it" after learning Obama would not endorse him. Obama did not endorse any of the candidates for Rhode Island governor.

1. Well, he wanted to distance himself from
winning, apparently.

"D" in name only, he gets what he deserves.

8. I think the President had this one pegged long before we knew about him.
If he flies off the handle at the POTUS, it's obvious the guy has some issues. RI might just dodge a bullet with this one.

11. Wonder if Frank's internals, some days before the
"shove it" comment, showed him losing significant ground in the race, and saying the president could "shove it" was just the punctuation for his frustration. He held a lead as early as two weeks ago and now Chafee is comfortably ahead.

Agree with upthread comment that the White House may know something we don't know about this race. And in any case, Caprio's remark was untoward in the context of his asking voters in RI to affirm his leadership qualities.
