Meek's political career is over
We all should be proud.
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/10/10/the-sunshine-state-silly-season/65384/
"Meek could be -- could have been -- a senator four years from now when or if Bill Nelson retires. Now his reputation is going to be tarnished. And now, the Democrats look desperate...desperately afraid that they're going to lose the Senate."

http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/10/28/1897157/former-president-clinton-asked.html
"This may not have much of an impact on the race, but it makes Meek look bad,'' said Jennifer Duffy, a senior analyst for the non-partisan Cook Political Report. ``His own party doesn't seem to have a lot of faith in him. He's got to carry that around now and it will make it difficult if he wants to run for office again.''

I know Alex Sink is shouting, "Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn,Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn!"

3. And That Is Most Certainly A Travesty For Him, But It Is What It Is!
Just a "pick your poison" decision too many Floridians are being asked to make.

I wonder what Karen Thurman and her Democratic Party is thinking right about now. You know of course, that people don't just appear upon the scene. THEY knew going in who they wanted to run for the Senate here against the Repuke. THEY WERE WRONG!

Blame the citizens of this state if you want, but THEY & Meek have known for quite some time now that he's never polled over 3rd place. And now his numbers are dropping even more. Again we are fighting Perot & Nader to screw this up for Florida Democrats.

JMHO!

I tell you want, on Nov. 3 if there are progressives out there BLAMING Meek for rubios win, Florida is truly SCREWED in 2012. There will be a backlash.

9. nah.. they're not gonna blame Obama, if that's what you mean.
Meek just lacked excitement. You keep saying Crist couldn't seal the deal, then what the heck do you call Meek's failed campaign? He's at 15%. That's less than half of Crist, the 2nd place guy. I blame the FL Dem party for backing Meek, really from the get go. We didn't have anyone better? I doubt that. Holding out hope that this doesn't effect Sink. Meek's a nice guy, and I feel for him nonetheless, this has to be frustrating for him that he just didn't connect very well with the Dem base in the general. Ya just never know what will happen in a 3 way race. This is crazy, for sure!

7. Don't Know That I Agree With That Assessment But
what has been done to Congressman Meek by the incompetence of the Florida Democratic Party is shameful and some folks have very long memories...

11. What Goes Around Comes Around
Let me preface my remarks by saying I voted for Kendrick Meek. It was not an easy vote as I knew he was a sure loser. Being a Florida Democrat I have voted for sure losers in the past like like Hugh Rodham, Jim Davis, Bill Gunter, Hugh Rodham, and Steve Pajic. None of these men were losers as individuals but they were losers as candidates; some because they weren't good candidates, some because they were running in a "bad" year, some because it's damn hard for a Democrat to be elected to a high office here, and some because their opponents were good politicians. However this race was different because there was a viable alternative to the Republican and not a garden variety Republican but a Tea Bag Republican.

I empathize with my fellow progressives and liberals who voted for Crist to stop Rubio. I didn't because I thought it was a desperate gambit that wouldn't work. If I thought it would work I would have joined them in the proverbial New York minute.

There are folks here on this board who are suggesting the Democratic party should be "punished" for their neglect of Meek. Intellectually honesty then demands that Kendrick Meek should be "punished" for failing in 2008 to endorse the Democrats running to unseat Cuban-American Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and his brother, Mario Diaz-Balart. I don't think neither the Democrats or Meek should be "punished". That's how politics work. It's like the Sopranos without the violence.

What goes around, comes around.

As an aside we need to let this baby go. Calls for Meek to drop out at this point make us look desperate, amateurish, and just plain inept,

12. Many Americans can't remember what they had for dinner two days ago.
In four years they will not remember this. I think Meeks can run again.

13. If You Believe The Article Shouldn't Shouldn't You Blame President Obama
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 06:26 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
"The WORST kept secret in Florida politics is that the White House tried to get Clinton to do this several months ago. At the time, Clinton told the White House to stick it where the sun don't shine. He has real affection for Meek."

They did the same thing in New York to Governor Patterson, not that they had better alternatives.

To paraphrase Brother Malcom, "politics is the pursuit of power, the acquisition of power, and the maintenance of power by any means necessary."

15. Meek was the duly nominated democratic nominee in FL and if he doesn't want
to get out of the race that's up to him. Crist is an opportunist who could have switched over to independent or democrat a year or more ago, but only did so when he was convinced he wouldn't win the GOP nomination.
