6. No way Kohl is running for governor
He'd be 77 when he ran and out of office for two years if he stepped down at the end of his current term. He may retire, but it won't be to run for governor.

50. Not sure he will - if he won, he would be a freshman Democrat
( This was the case even with Lautenberg, who ran to help the Democrats out of a huge mess after he had retired)

This has major importance - He would get worse office space, but more importantly he would be one of the most junior member in every committee. In some, it might not matter - he might get his old sub-committee, but it might be that the Democrat who gets it next January might want to retain it. (The question on the SFRC, where he has the Africa subcommittee is whether the new person having the 2 most recent years working the issues might because he is current be as good as Feingold, who I think had this area for a long time.

They aren't from the same state so they aren't running for governor/lt. Governor...
Dean is too old for 2016
A new comedy duo perhaps?
What other options for two people with a hyphenated brand name are there?

You show us hoof prints in cental park and now you act outraged when people say "horse". Yeah, I guess it could be a zebra. But everyone has seen you walking this particular horse around before.

29. My intent was to make a point about free speech....
...for all those that would like to criticize whatever they think is different from what they think.

But also, it was a diversion to change the direction that was taking place, pro-Obama vs anti-Obama.

Why did people get so defensive?

Even if I meant it as an anti-Obama post, which I did not, I would still have that right and those that would censor can disagree as much as they like...

You have the right to disagree.

27. Typical blue dog mentality.
Just give up. You chose to interpret the post according to your own biases and positions.

What if I had added a couple of sentences about Dean and Feingold running for the Presidency and how I thought it would be a terrible idea? That the timing was very bad?

You did not choose to see that possibility. You chose a defensive position.

30. I think most of them are fair conclusions
The way I interpret it you were talking about a presidential bid. You posted Dean-Finegold which is how most people post names when they are talking about running mates. This is GDP where most people come to talk about the president. Why don't you tell us what it means? I do not understand what the big deal is. I mean if you are not talking about a presidential bid then why put the post in this forum?

58. For what? You don't mean President, do you? Really? No way that would happen.
For one thing, the Dem Party has all but ousted Dean (it's their loss).

Second, they are both too liberal to be elected. (No far leftie has ever been elected President, as far as I know.)

Third, I don't think Dean could win a primary. Don't forget we have more states than the northeast.

I think they should make Dean chairman again, though. They went downhill when they replaced him.
