of wanting to put your Christian child in front of a "death panel."

5. I had no idea what it meant until I saw the article on Palin's video
I think 75% or more of Americans have no idea either. It's not something that's commonly used. Maybe that makes it all the more offensive.

No, it makes it all that more sneaky and coded. A real issue that faces Jews (and gays and others, on occasion) is the use of "coded language." Oddly enough, it is how "political correctness" got its start.
