Why not just say: "Who you think you're talking to, boy?!"
The Republicans are whining and the punditry are scolding the President for speaking his mind about the Republican budget plan WHILE THEY WERE IN THE ROOM! He's being accused of being rude, undermining negotiations, embarrassing and antagonizing Republicans, etc. In other words, he doesn't seem to know his place.

How DARE the President be so uppity to criticize Republicans while they're in the room!

It's so much more appropriate to grin in their faces, no matter what he thinks about their plan.

This is particularly amusing considering how often, viciously and personally these people attack this President every time blinks. But they do it the proper way - behind his back.

8. It makes me smile to think about how they
probably assumed they'd park themselves in the front row and look at him the way they do at the State of the Union address on their turf surrounded by their buddies ...

Only to have him wipe those smirks off their faces with the stone cold truth.

No wonder they're pissed off! Bullies always get mad when they get played by the skinny kid.

4. I've become convinced that's it, whether they see it in themselves or not.
Although I was surprised the other day when I heard Boehner say he LIKED Obama, then went on to diss his policies. But I wondered if the face time with Obama kind of opened his eyes, that the stereotypes aren't real. But yeah, I'm convinced a big part of this is racism.

6. that sounds like the racists' fave line: One of my friends is black
therefore I'm not a racist.

I doubt Boner's eyes got opened. Specially since his policies are completely heartless and closed to the consequences of such policies. Obama is spelling out the consequences---and Boner still doesn't like Obama's policies?

Boner can go to hell, along with all his puke (white, male) friends.

7. Of course it is -
If this had been Reagan or Bush or even Clinton, the media would have characterized this as being courageous, candid, even ballsy. But Barack Obama did it, so it's rude, petty and uncollegial.

We all know what this is about.

10. It sure is. "Presidenting While Black". The media has no problem criticizing
and second-guessing everything he does. No respect for him as Chief Executive.

5. I hope this doesn't mean the President will compromise.
I wish the President would, regardless of the Republican's personal shortcomings, not allow the goal posts to be moved any further to the right.

11. Good Lord!
Why don't you wait to see what he does before you pass judgment on what hasn't happened?

All of this handwringing is amazing. Before the speech, we had to hear some Democrats whine that the speech wouldn't be strong enough. He gives a kick-ass speech, and instead of being pleased, these folks whine that his future actions won't be good enough.

And I have no doubt that if he meets or exceeds the next hurdle you all set, you STILL won't be satisfied since this has nothing to do with a desire to make progress, but is instead all about just wanting to have something to bitch about.

This is a thread about how Republicans and the media are treating the President. Sadly, some folks are demonstrating that such treatment is not limited to those quarters.

12. That's why Black Folks have to be twice as good as everyone else......
and yet they still get dogged by those who believe themselves to be smarter. It's almost subliminal, the hoops he has to go through to prove himself worthy....

While if Clinton would have passed Health Care and done only that (cause the rest of the shit he did wasn't all that), he would have been called Brilliant. In fact, come to think of it, Clinton is still called brilliant to this day.

Amazing, isn't it?

20. Clinton was and is a brilliant politician. No need to imply he would not deserve
praise in order to make the absolutely accurate point that much of the treatment of Obama is racist.

I'm not sure he would be praised be these same people anyway, had he been responsible for the plan. The agenda of the right wingers is to destroy the opposition. But I have no doubt that the nature of their criticism and whining would be far different. Less of a "how dare he?" tone, for example.

being as concerned about Bush/Cheney's "up yours" attitude they exhibited for nearly their entire two terms and Obama never actually told anybody to go ff*** themselves on the Senate floor.
