Donald Trump leading the Republican race shows how weak the party is.
With all the problems Barack Obama has, the good news is that the Republicans are in even worse shape than he is. When you have Donald Trump, whose only issue seems to be the fact that he's basically making a fool of himself, leading the GOP presidential race, swallowing what the birthers are feeding him. Ron Paul and Tim Pawlenty have stuck their toes in the water, but that's about it. John Boehner is Captain Queeg unsuccessfully stopping a mutiny from the Teabagger nut-jobs, and who basically got his ass handed to him in these budget negotiations. Poll after poll saying the Republicans have overreached in cutting things the American people do not want cut, Obama is looking better and better all the time.

The MSM, in their zeal to tear down Obama every chance they get, will undoubtedly continue to kiss Republican ass in a lame attempt to portray the Republicans as winning the battle. I hope Trump gets into the race because Obama will eat him alive. The Republicans are running scared on two fronts. One is Trump and the other the Teabaggers. If Obama were smart, he would exploit that rift in the party.

Has Obama done everything we want?? Certainly not, but with the Republicans shooting themselves in the foot, and Trump being the 500lb gorilla in the room for Republicans, this is turning out to be the break the Democrats need for victory next November.

1. You are so right! We'd be horrified if someone like him was gaining popularity
as a possible contender for the Dems. We'd KNOW what it meant, the Reps are just falling apart. Good.

5. Wm. F. Buckley must be spinning in his grave.
The Republican Party from days gone by seems to have disappeared and what is in its place should cause old school Republicans to run screaming from the Party.

The two parties used to be able to work together; not anymore. If the mess we are now in doesn't unite us to try to make things work then I have searious fears that this will even get uglier.

10. Ironically, Trump in his earlier years gravitated towards Roy Cohn.
Yeah, THAT Roy Cohn.

Cohn was his attorney and fed Trump on all sorts of cut-throat business and political philosophy. I think a lot of it stuck.

14. There used to be a balance between the parties
There were conservatives, moderates and liberals in both parties.

The moderate conservatives and liberal Republicans left the GOP. So the Republicans are left with the right-wing nutjobs and the Dems basically have everyone else. Republicans are too crazy and the Dems have too many different factions to have a really clear, consistent message.

9. The corporate republicans are intelligent.
But the republican people are shallow and lazy thinkers which is why they let FOX do their thinking for them.

They don't know politics, but they know their trashy TV. If Snooki or one of the housewives of wherever or a Kardasian were running, they'd be on top too. They are the people who have kept Maury Povich and Jerry Springer on the air lo these many years.
