You know, in a deck of cards, eventually you do pull out a race card.
It's time to face a reality that many of us in the South already know. Racism became more hidden, covert after the eighties because of the federal lawsuits which used overt behavior as evidence in court proceedings. Since then, gone are the verbal slurs that were easy to pick up, the inappropriate drawings or images on commercial advertisement. Also gone are the long-term hiring practices where you could see the pattern of someone's bias reflected in the color of their labor force. To some people, racism is gone because these overt behaviors are no longer easily seen. However, just because it went underground, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

For those of us who have been keeping an eye on it, there is coded racism popping out everywhere. When you use economics to justify revoking an Hispanic's right to American nationality, even though they were born in the U.S. (anchor babies), that's racism.

When you claim that Hispanics and Blacks are more prone to violence which is why they're in jail in higher proportions to the population, that's racism. The skewed numbers could easily be researched to show how our justice system is heavily weighed to get these results. Our police force hones in on crimes that affect these ethnic groups, and ignore the crimes which are mostly committed by Anglo-Americans.

That's just a start. There's also the fact that poor economic opportunities not only limit their ability to land good paying jobs, but they also don't have the money for such things as bail, good lawyers or just the ability to join the country club where they might know someone who knows the judge.

There are two ways to recognize that these racist ideas still exist. First, is to develop an ear for dog whistle politics. It's funny, because, if you're Jewish, you will finely tune your ear for matters that are anti-semitic. Ethnic minorities have developed the same ear for their own situations. Everybody else may be deaf on the matter.

The second way is to be honest with yourself when you hear it in your own private circles. At family reunions, people have slip of the tongues, revealing how they really feel. These opinions or attitudes get passed from one generation to the next without anyone blinking an eye. And since we may have heard these slip of the tongues since we began visiting the relatives, we may have learned to brush them off, learned to hold our own tongue, in order to come back the following year to see these strange people that we are related to through an act of birth, or just an unfortunate by-product of marriage.

It's time to be fair to everyone outside the family, and recognize that these hidden prejudices do affect their decisions.

So, I say it's out there, and the Republicans are doing everything they can to repackage it so it's not so easily evident to the uninitiated. Yet, it's just enough to resonate with the people they want to attract politically. So it's our responsibility to call it out where we see it, despite the criticism we receive for it, because, sometimes that race card does get dealt out.

There are a few other causation. If you see a system that is unjust, you are more likely to not follow those rules of the system in an attempt to rebalanced, making it actually not illegal action that gets many into prison, as shown by lack of prosecution of many doing economic terrorism.

If a person steals a few dollars worth of gas from a convenience store, are they worse then those that steal pensions from millions?

Some would say that thought breaks down order, instead it exposes false order in an attempt to correct the problems in much of society.

Also economic factors imposed on many groups, can cause a higher crime rate, again by knowledge of injustice of system, and also finding a way to care for families in tougher situations.

For those that insist on racism as a reason, If you argue that it is a character flaw that puts people in prison, then every person in that 'group' that accells has far more character then those that never had to face injustice and still prosper.

How many of the old boys would have quit, or just screamed if someone questioned there validity.
