Supercommittee Gives Kerry Chance To Shine, Worrying Liberals
By Alexander Bolton - 08/11/11 05:00 AM ET

Sen. John Kerry’s appointment to the debt-reduction supercommittee is his big moment to shine as a dealmaker and silence critics who have questioned his modest record of legislative accomplishments.

Kerry’s big opportunity, however, is troubling to some liberal leaders and labor union officials who worry that the senior Democrat from Massachusetts might be too eager to strike a grand bargain.

The most significant legislative victory of Kerry’s career came last year when he shepherded the New START nuclear arms reduction treaty through the Senate despite the strong opposition of GOP leaders.

But a bipartisan deal to reduce the deficit by $1.5 trillion or more, which is the task of the 12-member supercommittee established last week, would be an accomplishment on a much higher order of significance.

So is anyone who swallows what this knowlittle is feeding his readers. He wants Kerry attacked from the left and right to try and weaken his hand from the getgo. Too many will oblige this asshat.

And, if anyone wants to know WHY he's on this committee, it's because of Kerry's ACTUAL position that Dems need to PROTECT entitlements from RW ideology.

The twists and spin from kneejerk bloggers unfamiliar with this nation's actual historic record would be comical if they didn't add to the difficult climb for any Democratic lawmaker.

11. He did cave in Ohio though.
But even in his life before politics his decisions have always been pretty much adult and responsible.

13. Ohio Dem party caved years earlier when the GOP wrote Ohio's recount law.
And the DNC under Terry McAuliffe did NOTHING in the 4years before election day to secure the election process in key states, especially at the levels where votes are ALLOWED...CAST....and COUNTED.

14. The votes were not there - the Republicans won it by suppressing the vote
by having too few urban voting machines. You can't count votes not cast and the state Democrats did not notice the numbers of machines were inadequate before the election.

'Kerry’s spokeswoman defended her boss from the criticisms.

“Senator Kerry’s record speaks for itself and groups on both sides would do well to keep their comments to themselves,” Seth said.'

7. Kerry is not the problem. The committee itself is the problem.

Either they will compromise and given the GOP appointees, the compromising will be on our side or the trigger will be pulled. In any case, what they will come with cannot be amended.
