This is about politics, strictly politics, from a political point of view, handicapping election 2012. Set aside personal bias and gauge how the race, given the climate we have now, might turn out next year.

Yes it's early, but polls have been taken for months matching up the repubs' candidates vs Obama. I'm curious what DU thinks at this point, fully aware that a year is a lifetime in politics.

6. You can't beat somebody with nobody.....Republicans got nobody....

Rick Perry truly is "George Bush on steroids". No one is ready to return to the crazed cowboy nightmare. The tea party half of the Republican party finds Romney repulsive (southern rethugs really have a problem with his Mormonism). Michelle Bachmann is a farce-the only people who take her seriously are the Christian fundamentalists who are a force in Republicanism but scare independents. How could anyone take her seriously.

They'll eventually pick Rick Perry who'll choose Mario Rubio for vp then lose by a point or two. At least in my fantasy world.
