The Dividing Line
America is an Empire, like it or not. Love it or leave it.

If you are happy with Obama and the other Democrats, you probably like American Empire?

If you are not happy with Obama and the Democrats, you probably do not like the American Empire?

If you are confused, it is probably because you refuse to see that America is the world's Empire?

2. Empire is just a word?
Do you deny that America is the world's Empire?

3. seriously?
Waning glory, there have been other "empires" non made it for long, neither will this one. We are on a fast track declination, we have a political party comprised of people with severe sociopathic tendencies who seem to be incapable of caring for anything but their own narrow desires.

4. Exactly
Propping up the Empire is what is driving the majority of politicians.

It is doomed to failure.

What interests me is how many folks here are even willing to even accept the fact that this is Empire we are living.

Obama, in my mind, is propping up the Empire. And we agree it is a failing proposition, yes?

9. Not in the true sense
We are not an empire in the true sense of the word as a noun.
there were several empires: Roman empire, British empire, French empire. But the USA is not truly an empire. in the sense that we do not have a central ruling power embodied in a single entity. Obama is not an emperor, he is the president of a representational republic, the true ruling body is comprised of three distinct ruling bodies, the house and the senate as the legislative branch(supposedly representing the people),The president as the Executive branch and the court system culminating in the "supreme" court as the legal branch. This is my belief of how it would be construed.

11. Denial is deep?
a group of nations or peoples ruled over by an emperor, empress, or other powerful sovereign or government:

America has troops stationed around the world. We have invaded at least two countries in recent times and occupy said countries to a large degree, telling them what they shall do.

What country is above us? None.

Our royalty doesn't go around wearing the badges of royalty, but nonetheless they do rule over us. They can have any of us thrown in jail, invade other countries and dictate financial matters around the world.

If it is just a moniker you are quibbling over, then what moniker would you use to describe the power America has over the rest of the world?

14. Denial????
Doubt that seriously, having the power to do something, having troops stationed in many different countries, and being "top dog"(although i do not think we are really "top dog" , China has as much if not more actual power than we do) (my opinion) In the meanwhile Obama, the senate, the House nor the supreme court has total power, the powers are definitely separated and none are strong enough to do as they please without the cooperation of the others... No way this country fits anything but a very loose definition of "empire".

15. Yep
They invade at will, they have all gone along with the theft of 2000, and allow the voting machines to be placed in every precinct and you can actually claim they do not rule?

5. Really? That simple?
The way I read what you wrote is like saying--
Air is to breathe, but it can be polluted....
if you like polluted air, then breathe,
if you don't like polluted air, stop breathing.
If you are confused, it is probably because I have given you a false choice,
because I can.

Is this Empire, or not?

Seems like a fairly simple question to answer. So why don't you even try?

8. Oh?
France is the world's Empire? It was at one time, but is not now.

America is the world's Empire, and Obama is the Emperor.

Hard to swallow, eh? Not for me. No denial here. USA!

13. Truth hurts, eh?
We spend more on maintaining Empire than any other single budget item.

Call it 'defense' if you will, but that would be true hyperbole.
