Attack Republicans in their "strength"
President Obama and some Democrats are nibbling around the edges of this one by saying the GOP are choosing party over country. But a much bigger deal should be made of it. The GOP is historically the party of "patriotism", etc., but their actions are so anti-American of late that it becomes clearer and clearer they would prefer to increase unemployment and push us further into recession in order to win in November 2012. This is about Party and selfish ambition first and foremost, while the country gets purposefully trashed to benefit the next election. This meme should be put forth aggressively enough to get the GOP on the defensive.

2. It would be SO easy
"The Republicans have nothing to offer except criminal behavior, lies and excuses..."

The problem is that we have a WH that supports those ideas. Who knows why, except that there seems to be money in it.

What's the cost of one's soul?

5. I have to agree with you. Just look at the incredible, out and out lies
Edited on Mon Aug-22-11 08:20 AM by Cal33
that the Repubs. spread about Obama and Dems. in general. The Dems. might
answer back a few times, and nothing more is heard from them. But the
Repubs. keep on repeating on and on. In time, many come to accept the
lies as truth.

Another example is the use of electronic voting machines. It's been a dozen
years since they first came out -- with disastrous results for the Dems, time
after time. And today some 25 states are still using them. After a dozen
years!

Just imagine if the situation had been reversed, and Dems. were the ones
using those crooked machines for their own benfit. How long do you think the
Repubs. would have stood for it? In my opinion, just one election and no more.
The Repubs would have raised such a stink that the electronic machines would
have been outlawed for good in the whole country.

Let's be honest. Dems are quite apathetic and lackadaisical, even when our
birth-right is being stolen right from under our noses. Too many of us don't
seem to give much of a damn. When the roof starts caving in, of course, then ...

If that's the way we fight most of the time, we'll be losing most of the time.
We don't take advantage of opportunities, when they present themselves. Hell! We
don't even make use of the tools at our disposal!

6. Republicans are always ont he offensive
We must find a way to put them on the defensive. It is difficult, but going after their supposed "love of country" should have them sputtering. Their policies so obviously harm people, the economy, and the country and help only the biggest corporations and the super-rich. Clearly their goal is to bring down Obama AT ALL COST. That is the point. If it hurts the president, it will hurt the country, and they don't seem to care. Obama has been pushing this recently, but it needs to be a louder chorus.

7. I don't think it's THAT difficult to put Repbs on the defensive. For example, they, themselves,
Edited on Mon Aug-22-11 09:56 AM by Cal33
are providing all the opportunities with their blatant lies.

Each time they lie (and they do it endlessly) point it out, CALL IT A LIE,
and then show the truth -- with evidence. Dems should do this not only
with the Repubs' present lies, but also all the relevant past ones.

This, alone, is already a huge weapon against them. It would shame and
disgrace them in the eyes of the pubic who have been deceived by them.
Dems don't use it often enough. And there are other means to beat them.
But start with this one first, so that those who have been deceived
will learn something of the truth, both past and present.
