For supporters of Obama: I'm sending $51 campaign contribution
Edited on Mon May-02-11 11:10 PM by K8-EEE
To honor his strong leadership on May 1. For those who can afford it, it would be a great show of support -- just because he doesn't have any GOP who will take him on at the moment, he's gonna need a lot of support to counter the giant corporate bucks! Nov 2012 is a million years away in politics. Don't buy that he's a shoe-in; we need to have his back if we don't want a Walker-like President because that is who they are going to run regardless of how smiley they dress them up.

1. When he gets elected I just know he's going to kick those corporations' asses!
I'm in! Obama in 2008!

2. LOL exactly the response I expected!
He's gonna kick them much harder than President Palin or Pawlenty unless you think "they're all the same" which, sorry, I think that's the Nader lie that gave us Bush in the first place.

4. LOL and who is your candidate for 2012?
You got a better one who is running? Who can even remotely win? A Democrat? This is Democratic Underground, just FYI. You can google LaRouche if you like.

6. I'm saying in 2008 the red meat for voters was Real Change. In 2012...
...it would be nicer to have something to get the voters motivated, instead of just saying the other guys sucks more.

I'm spoiled though, my Representative and Senator are actually Liberals. I don't vote for them "because the other guy is crazier", I vote for them because they bust their ass, especially DeFazio, to look out for my interests. Not...the corporations' interests.

14. Some idealists on the left are as bad as TeaBaggers on the right
but they're much more destructive to this country...as Nader's followers proved in 2000.

If TeaBaggers support someone, it's still a Republican, and Republicans don't lose out (they're learned their lesson with Perot - I think the left idealists are a LOT more stubborn and aren't prone to learn their lesson no matter what).

If Idealists on the left support someone, it's usually a small candidate with zero national appeal, outside the Democratic Party who siphons votes away from the Democratic Party which allows an easy win for the GOP whether it's fair or stolen. Or, they refuse to vote based on principles, which result in the same thing, a loss against a unified Republican Party.

As they say, Liberals fall in love. CONservatives fall in line. That's why Cons, even today, are still on of the two political parties in our two-party system.

5. Shortsighted. As was Obama in 2008. Face it, NO election in the U.S. can happen w/out corporate $$s
and every idealist who doesn't understand that fundamental truth, is a fool.

Corporate dollars are here to stay whether we like it or not (and for the record, I don't).

11. I dunno. Is being a realist wiser than being an idealist?

12. And of course, you _would_ miss the point. I'm not talking about...
...realists vs idealists, I'm talking about how you come across in that post. It's clear you've got the universe nailed down into a nice little black and white world where you describe even the President you voted for as a fool because he did not subscribe to your ideology at one time and you presume that he does now. And then judge the rest of the world similarly unfit, breaking down into "Fools and people who think like BlueCaliDem".

I mean...wow, I find it difficult to imagine that anyone has anything to say that you'd listen to- that is if their voice is strong enough to carry the words up to the very lonely chamber in that ivory tower.

15. You made NO POINT. You belittle and patronize.
I don't know what world you live in, but corporate dollars are here to stay. Don't like it? Suffer, as you apparently do. Or better yet, polish up that tiny ivory tower you can't bring yourself to believe you inhabit, because as an idealist, that's where you thrive. As a realist, I know they don't exist.

And you've earned yourself the honor of being the first ever member in my Ignore list. Congrats!
