Keith Really Needs To Change His Web Site's Name
Edited on Wed May-11-11 08:39 PM by alltherage
www.foknewschannel.com ...

It's too long!

I know he's trying to come up with a good joke, but it's completely lame. It's also just too easy to mess up, not to mention a pain in the ass to type in. Bookmark it, sure, but for others out there who want to check him out, it's not something people can think off the top of their heads like other web sites. www.foknews.com would have been simpler.

What do you think? Any suggestions for a new URL?

3. That's why God invented bookmarks and favorites :)

on edit: you can't use Keith or Olbermann because people will spell it wrong. Countdown.com appears to be either inactive or soon-to-be active.

6. Last I heard, Google still works.
Olbermann isn't difficult to locate, if one is so inclined.

7. Nobody actually types in URL addresses into their browser anymore
It's just not going to be an issue at all.

9. What????!!!!
WTF are you talking about?

Haha, I just noticed that I originally typed www.foxnews.com. See, I did it again.

I know what FOK stands for. It's a lame joke.

There has to be something better, something simpler.

I'm speaking from a marketing perspective, folks.

12. I think the OP's point is silly, but I should point out that I type in URLs all the time.
Lot's of people do. That's what the address bar is for.

How do you go to a website when someone tells you a URL or when you see one on TV or on a sign? you can bookmark it if you intend to return but how do you get there the first time?

17. Doesn't that seem like a lot of extra steps?
Edited on Wed May-11-11 10:12 PM by drm604
That's why the address bar is there, to save you the trouble and to make sure that you get the site you really want and not just the first thing that Google (or Bing, or whatever) throws at you. It also helps protect you from fraud. For example, if you directly type in your banks URL then you know you're going to their website. If you type their name into Google and then click on a likely looking link you could end up at a fake site that then steals your account information.

I'm in IT support, and I go nuts sometimes trying to explain to someone how to go to a site I need them to go to. I tell them the URL to go to and they keep typing it into Google's search box instead of the address bar and then complaining that it's not working. It's almost impossible at times to make them understand where I want them to type. They don't even seem to realize that you can directly type in an address.

People have been brainwashed by Google, which Google loves, because they can show you ads. People don't even know how to use the internet anymore.

19. It's ONE extra step.
Edited on Wed May-11-11 10:22 PM by Mojambo
And I only use it if I'm going to a site I heard about but don't want to be bothered to type the exact correct URL.

When it comes to going to my bank's website, or any site that I regularly visit, that's one that I have bookmarked so it's not really an issue.

But when it comes to finding a new web site, nobody types in the address box. Nor should they. That's what search engines are designed for.

15. Not really, it isn't too long, who types in urls anymore I either type a few letters and it fills in
or use a search engine to get me there.
