3.  Iran has come out to officially condemn the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. Special Forces
Edited on Thu May-12-11 04:17 PM by oberliner
Iran has come out to officially condemn the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. Special Forces at a compound in northern Pakistan last week.

Speaking in Pretoria, South Africa, the Secretary General of Iran’s Supreme Council for Human Rights, Mohammad Javad Larijani, said the Al-Qaeda chieftain deserved to have a fair trial rather than face a “unilateral execution” by American commandos.

“This is banned by international law,” he declared.

“It is against fairness and justice. Even the most notorious terrorist should be put on trial. He should have a fair trial. A way to defend himself.”

5. Didn't they say also that he was already dead for 10 years?
I sense some inconsistencies in their message.

9. They just said he was mostly dead before,
sort of like the hero in the movie (The Princess Bride) but now he's really, really, really dead.

6. Pakistan condemns unilateral U.S. action against bin Laden
Facing internal criticism about the fact that a secret U.S. kill-mission was allowed to take place on Pakistani soil, Pakistan’s foreign ministry expressed “deep concern” over the operation on Tuesday. “This event of unauthorized unilateral action cannot be taken as a rule,” the foreign ministry said in a statement about the death of Osama Bin Laden. At the same time, Pakistan, a major recipient of U.S. aid, is taking credit for its role in the terrorist leader’s capture. The written statement claims that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) tipped-off the CIA about foreigners in Abbottabad in 2009.

8.  Human Rights Watch chief condemns bin Laden killing
Edited on Thu May-12-11 04:23 PM by oberliner
The executive director of Human Rights Watch is criticizing the United States for killing terrorist leader Osama bin Laden without due process.

Kenneth Roth opined on bin Laden’s death via his Twitter account (@KenRoth), taking aim at comments made by the U.N.’s secretary-general: “Ban Ki-moon wrong on #Osama bin Laden: It’s not “justice” for him to be killed even if justified; no trial, conviction”.

14. I have a more interesting question
Edited on Thu May-12-11 04:49 PM by Aerows
Why do people keep making threads to point this out, or to point out how right it was, how awesome it is, and how awful anyone that thinks otherwise is?

Are Democrats, and Obama supporters that desperate that we have to be reminded every 2 minutes that he got bin Laden?

Personally, I don't think we are, and there are a lot of things to be proud of beyond "Obama got bin Laden!"

I'm not trying to squelch anyone's enthusiasm, but damn. There is a whole lot more to the Democratic party than "KICKED OSAMA'S ASS, 2012"
