Sen. McCaskill fires back at Feingold, Feingold singled her out for “shame”
http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/161801-angry-sen-mccaskill-fires-back-at-feingolds-potshots

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) said she was angry that former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) singled her out for “shame” in an email to his new liberal political action committee (PAC).

(snip)
In a fundraising email to his Progressive United PAC on Tuesday, Feingold accused McCaskill, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) of cozy relationships with corporations.

“It is really discouraging to me that Russ would somehow make an allegation that this is about me protecting corporate interests,” McCaskill said on Capitol Hill.

(snip)
Feingold wrote in his email: “This culture of corporate influence and corruption is precisely what we at Progressives United want to change. So we’ve decided to take on those legislators who are unwilling to stand up to corporate power, and we’re naming names.”

1. A big Obama win may not be enough to save McCaskill.

The truth is that Claire has gone to bat for the corporations while calling on cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

5. Claire voted to grant immunity to the telecoms in the warrantless
wiretap scuffle!

She's my senator and she talks a good game but she is not nearly progressive enough for me.

BUT! The other senator from Missouri is Mel Blunt! Yeeeeeeech!

2. In other words,
McCaskill is pissed that Feingold would call her out for protecting corporate interests after she has come out on the side of protecting corporate interests.

Cheers to Feingold!

6. Missouri is rapidly turning red.
I don't agree with McCaskill on many things but she is far far better than any Missouri Republican. I hope she can someway hold this seat for the Democrats.

10. He did
Feingold’s email also singled out three Republicans — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Sen. Rob Portman (Ohio) and Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.) — for their opposition to the proposed order. They and a number of other Republicans have charged the president with an assault on free speech.

But this is bigger than team Democrat and team Republican. Hopefully everyone figures this out soon...

11. Her defense is fucking absurd
So, forcing contractors to disclose their political donations will somehow make things worse? Its obvious that she was completely unprepared to defend her decision and just made up this ridiculous excuse at random.

In the end it doesn't really matter, she isn't coming back to congress next year anyways. Its excuses like this that will make it impossible for her to win re-election.

14. I applaud Feingold for Naming Names.
I also caution him.
Paul Wellstone was disgusted with Big Money Republican influence INSIDE the Democratic Party,
and was beginning to call them out.....
shortly before he was killed.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans."
---Paul Wellstone

"By their works you will know them."

18. Bernie Sanders is not a "member" of the Democratic Party.
Having a member of the Socialist Party say there is a problem in the Democratic party is one thing.
It is entirely different when an outspoken member of the Democratic Party says we have a BIG problem inside the Democratic Party.

I very carefully did NOT say that someone killed Paul Wellstone.
The NTSB says that they found "no evidence of sabotage",
and attributed the crash to Pilot Error,
for which they also had no evidence.

I have no proof that Paul was assassinated.
I don't KNOW that he was assassinated.
In my heart, I "suspect" that he was a problem that was removed.

Do you believe that there are ways to bring down a light aircraft without leaving "evidence"?
I do.

Do you believe everything our government tells you to believe?
I don't.

Was Paul Wellstone assassinated?
I honestly don't know.

Now if it was 40-60, I'd have been off her ship along time ago.

22. Ike was really good in my area.
He was my rep. He was a bit more old school but represented his people in his area. (Remember, he represented Whiteman.)

And Ike is so much better than Hartzler. She's a damn nightmare and she ran a nasty campaign, making claims that he's never helped vets. She's a piece of trash.

happens, it will be difficult to get rid of her given the nature of that district.

25. The base hates her.
(I live near it and hear about it all the time.) Quite a few normally conservative types want her gone around here. And UCM is finally getting its students out to vote.

The push will be huge and it'll be very close but it could be done, if they'd put the time and money in it.

Ike was very conservative on some things but this area is more conservative. That's how he won for all those years. What was good about Ike was that he really did represent his constituents and he was very approachable. I can't count how many times I've met him at events and have stopped, shook his hand, and then told him how I felt. He could have called security but instead he actually listened.

I respect someone who actually listens, whether I agree with their views or not. Hartler doesn't give a damn and she's only been in office a few months.

to get the students here to register to vote in Johnson County instead of their permanent address. They made the push to register to vote during the census.
