I wrote in a Republican today.
There was no Democratic candidate for County Coroner. I voted for the person most qualified in matters of death. So I wrote in the name of the county republican chairman.

1. County coroner is a elected position?
That seems weird.

5. Coroners are elected, medical examiners are appointed.
There is a difference.

4. I don't think so, although the incumbent is an undertaker.
I believe it's more a legal position than a technical position. They basically just nod to whatever the State Police say and sign whatever papers they need to to make the death official.

It's a small county and if they need an actual autopsy or medical examiner I think they send the body out of the county.

8. Hey,an interesting angle, I remember growing up and the coroner would come to our barber shop...
...and he scared the crap out of me because he always wore a butchers looking apron. (Not making this up!)

6. I'm supporting a Republican in our local small town council race
He's the best candidate for the job. Now would that be because he's the only candidate for the job? Why yes, now that you ask. :)

Actually, he's good on a couple of local issues also. I've told him that I hope he'll understand why I can't formally endorse him.
