Man Eats His Meat-Mentous 25,000th Big Mac
Wisconsin Man Stays Healthy Despite Love Of Sandwich

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- A Wisconsin man has made gastronomic history by finishing off his 25,000th Big Mac.

On the anniversary of his very first Big Mac, Don Gorske, of Fond Du Lac, Wis., donned his McDonald's gear and ordered the momentous sandwich before a crowd of reporters and photographers.

"I should try to look my best, right?" said Gorske.

He finished the burger in 16 bites, just as he ate his first Big Mac 1972, when his love affair for the burger began. The 57-year-old said McDonald's was the first place he drove when getting his first car. When he asked the owner for a good sandwich, he suggested the Big Mac -- for better or worse.

1. As long as he enjoyed them
I wouldn't eat one.

It seems like this is a nostalgia craving as much as food craving for him.

How many cows does that translate into?

2. That's 595 Big Macs a year!
If he's 57 and started when he got his license: 57-15=42 years of eating Big Macs
25000/42 = 595.24

8. That's almost 2 per day, every day for almost 39 years.

I'd get sick of something I've eaten that regularly in only a few days.

12. They interviewed him in Supersize Me.
He eats basically nothing but Big Macs (and maybe something for breakfast). He never eats the fries or drinks the soda. And he works as a prison guard so he gets a lot of exercise.

I think what he mostly shows is that the real problem with fast food is carb-loading and salt from the fries and the HFCS in the soda. If you eat burgers with water and a side salad and work out a lot, you won't see the same health impacts. But that's not how most people approach fast food.

19. It's nice to know that
because I do that a lot -- order the burger only, no fries and no soda.

Not at McD, though. I can't stand their stuff.

But don't let science get in the way.

18. No that is for very specific countries.
And for a specific time period 1980-1996. The person in the OP was eating in the U.S. I presume.

11. 3.2 oz of beef per sandwich...
is 80,000 oz = 5000 lbs of ground beef. That's a lot of beef.

30g of fat x 25,000 = 750,000 g of fat

1010 mg of sodium x 25,000 = 25.25 kg of sodium

13. Thats the guy M. Spurlock interviewed in "Supersize Me". After watching that interview I'm surprised

it took him this long to make it to 25k

His interview doesn't start until 1:55 or so:

"probably 90% of my solid diet is Big Macs"

15. I'm a Big Mac fan
I never get fries, and only get an unsweetened Iced tea with one. I have no health problems, and I am underweight if anything because I get a lot of exercise.

I seriously doubt, however, that I have eaten more than 200 in my lifetime because I don't eat from McDonald's more often than about once every two weeks. I DO, however, crave Big Macs on occasion, because they are damned delicious.
