Protester Who Heckled Netanyahu In Congress Allegedly Beaten, Arrested At Hospital
By Eric W. Dolan
Tuesday, May 24th, 2011 -- 8:49 pm

CODEPINK activist Rae Abileah was arrested at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. after heckling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the anti-war group.

The 28-year-old Jewish American woman was allegedly tackled by members of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) during Netanyahu's speech to Congress after she yelled, "stop Israeli war crimes."

Abileah was taken to the George Washington University Hospital, where she was being treating for neck and shoulder injuries.

"You know I take it as a badge of honor, and so should you, that in our free societies that you can have protest," Netanyahu said after being interrupted by Abileah. "You can't have these protest in the farcical parliaments in Tehran or in Tripoli. This is real democracy."

1. Typical conservative reaction.
All they know is violence and hate. I hope those assholes from AIPAC are sitting in jail right now.

2. You apparently can't have protests in the U.S., either
Unless you're willing to endure a beating and arrest. Let Freedom Reign, baby!

21. It does not matter what address it was, disruptors are not covered by "free speech"
Your free speech does not allow you to inhibit my free speech.

7. It wasn't the State of the Union.
It was a foreign head of state addressing a joint meeting of Congress. Not even a session.

12. I was just clarifying that you were trying to conflate the two.
I don't have a problem with hecklers at either, to be clear. The SOTU attendees are carefully screened to avoid this. I care much less when one head of state is out to sell his propaganda to a joint meeting of Congress.

I wish there had been more hecklers. And, no one should be beaten, hospitalized or arrested for it. They should be removed from the premises and that be the end of story.

contrary to some of these politicians belief, it's not Netanyahu's. He wants to give a "State of the Union":eyes: address he can give it in his country.

16. So she was tackled and beaten inside the chamber as the speech
was being given, by thugs from AIPAC, as Capital security looked on, then taken to the hospital and arrested?

The story wasn't clear at first.

28. Here's a boggle...
I don't know and neither do you...

Maybe she turned wrong when she was being escorted out...

Maybe she wasn't hurt at all or was hurt in a very minor way but complained to draw attention to her self

Maybe it was the Israeli Hockey Ninja team..

Maybe they really kicked her ass in the back...

The point is that if you really think that CP wouldn't lie or selectively tell the truth to advance their cause you are mistaken and/or deluded. The purpose of CP is to gain as much media attention as is humanly possible and anything they say/do/imply should be seen through that lens.

She lied about being injured, and bribed the hospital to admit her to treat her fake injuries.

Because we all know that Code Pinkers are liars.

Gotcha.

31. Doesn't appear from the article that she was "beaten"
It sounds like she was "roughed up" as she was tossed to the floor. Not that getting roughed up is a good thing in democracy but it's a far cry from saying she was "beaten."
