Lawyer objects to buxom woman at trial

A Chicago lawyer says his opponent in a small claims case is using an unfair tactic by sitting a buxom woman next to him at counsel's table.

Attorney Thomas Gooch says the woman's sole purpose "is to draw the attention of the jury away from the relevant proceedings" — a dispute over a used car. He asks Cook County Circuit Judge Anita Rivkin-Carothers to order the woman to sit in the gallery with other spectators.

Gooch told the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin he wasn't objecting to the woman because she is buxom, but because he doesn't think she is a paralegal.

"Personally, I like large breasts," he said. "However, I object to somebody I don't think is a qualified paralegal sitting at the counsel table — when there's already two lawyers there — dressed in such a fashion as to call attention to herself."

A juror distracted from the facts of trial by a buxom woman is a fool who does not belong in jury service. They should be denied the privilege and honor of serving their peers.

i'm a female and *i* can be distracted by a sufficiently buxom woman who is dressed to show it off, the straight male who pretends he can ignore a great rack is a straight male who is lying, it's a basic fact of human nature that humans w. healthy sex drives respond to the sight of human secondary sexual characteristics

but it's an interesting way to get out of jury service, your honor, please excuse me from service, i'm a fool who is distracted by titties -- hmmm, for some reason, i don't think my parish is accepting that excuse -- "everyone here who is a fool, please go home, you are excused," yeah, right, that'll be the day

do we want juries made up of entirely of those who can't remember what it's like to have blood in their veins?

there is a reason that it's considered contempt of court to enter the courtroom with your boobies hanging out

16. The only possible legitimate issue here is if the paralegal is not complying with the dress code.

Like anyone in the courtroom she should be dressed appropriately. But the "buxom" complaint is ridiculous; are they supposed to disallow women from appearing as paralegals or lawyers if their breasts are too big?
