What is the US doing in Yemen
intensifying airstrikes in Yemen - breaking on Anderson Cooper.
I saw US special forces inside Yemen on BBC earlier today.

2. Keeping the military-industrial complex going
Edited on Wed Jun-08-11 09:15 PM by inwiththenew
Iraq is winding down so Libya and Yemen are going to have to pick up the pace. It is not ideal because we cannot send 150,000 troops in, yet...but it will do.

:sarcasm:

But seriously, I don't know. We are probably killing another one of the score of "high ranking" members of Al Qaeda or some terrorist group.

4. losing, at the moment; and thus, thrashing around blindly
The dictator fled to Saudi Arabia after being targeted by a powerful rival; the US is seeking to avoid a total failure of its bad policies and is encouraging whatever state violence it thinks may stifle the resistance. I expect Saudi/GCC military forces to intervene any day now. (US forces, beyond a few so-called tactical units, are quite unlikely)

6.  Bottom line...
The anti-war folks have decided to sit out any and all warfare conducted by the Obama administration. Mabye its because Obama got a Nobel Peace prize who knows but it is kind of strange becuase it gives all the ammunition to the right to call the anti-war protestors unserious and strictly anti-Bush.

The real danger is the entire anti-war message will be uncredible probably when we need it to be most credible.

9. Malaise, if you turned off msnBS for 10 minutes and turned on one of the actual news channels
Edited on Thu Jun-09-11 08:02 AM by Shagbark Hickory
you'd know what is going on.

What cable or satellite provider do you have?

I highly recommend Al Jazeera's english news updates.
Also if you get World Link TV, there is a program called Mosaic, where they compile a bunch of broadcasts from middle eastern news channels and translate them.

There's loads of other channels that talk about what's going on in the world, unforunately none of them are the Lamestream(R) media channels.

Or do we have some flimsy backdoor excuse that we belong there or something?
