I think Weiner would have been better off had he filmed a sex tape with a couple of high dollar hookers. The reaction wouldn't be nearly as vitriolic. I think it must be the embarassing, creepy nature of the pictures thats making people act like complete idiots over this. On the morality scale, what he did was much less vile than what John Edwards and Newt Gingrich did to their cancer stricken wives. And at the end of the day, he is just 1 congressman among the entire house. He isn't the President of the United States. He isn't involved in any way, shape or form with the family values movement or religious institutions that push that movement. He wasn't actually trying to harm anyone. He was being a creepy guy on the Internet doing what a shit load of lesser known creepy guys do on the internet all the time. Christ, browse a craigslist personal section sometime, if you have the stomach for it. As soon as the internet supported the upload and download of pictures, people started posting their junk on it and sending it to each other. Like it or not, this is what people do with the internet.

What he did was moronic and way beneath the dignity of his office. And the whole thing is a damn shame. But at a certain point, we all need to realize that, ok, thats enough, break it up, you proved your point. I hope we can get there soon. There are bigger issues to worry about and a person only deserves to be beat up so much by the media for something this irrelevant to the real problems.
