Oakland woman videos rape suspect with her phone

Oakland police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman and escaped after she took a video of him with her cell phone, authorities said Wednesday.

The 28-year-old woman was alone in her home on the 900 block of Apgar Street in West Oakland when she was confronted by a man who had forced his way inside, said Officer Holly Joshi, an Oakland police spokeswoman.

The woman used her cell phone to record the man as he took electronic items from her and briefly left her home, Joshi said. The man then returned and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The victim posted this in the comments section following the article:

Answer to why I sounded so calm in the video: There was a previous incident of trespassing on May 11th in my apartment where i did respond by running outside and calling 911. It turned out to be a contractor hired by my landlord and I was never given notice. My landlord's threaten me with eviction and i was told my behavior created 'untenable working conditions' he than gave me notice that 'Please be advised that between now and the end of the year licensed contractors or my duly authorized representatives will or may be working on the door or other areas of the premises, during normal and reasonable working hours as defined in your lease' Although I contested this with my landlord as not proper notice. My reaction to yesterday's break in was shaped by this previous incident. I thought the guy was a contractor hired by my landlord, I behaved calm and did not call police right away as i was reprimanded for doing that previously on May 11th.

Also i'd like to add that the man did not 'come back' in fact he never left the house. At the end of the video he placed the box down he never left my apartment he was just in the adjacent room. Again I really thought he was likely just a contractor and thats why i did not immediatly protect myself

1. There's something about that title that doesn't sound right.
