Family cat found alive in rubble 16 days after twister
By Roger McKinney

JOPLIN, Mo. — Terrla and J.E. Cruse had been back to the rubble that remained at their house in the 2400 block of South Joplin Avenue many times since the May 22 tornado destroyed it.

- snip -

Terrla Cruse said she needed to return to the site Tuesday to try to find paperwork needed for the family’s Federal Emergency Management Agency application. “We decided we were going back one more time,” Cruse said.

She said she was standing at the site talking with her sister, Suzi Hoskins, when they heard meowing. Then more meowing.

- snip -

She said she and her sister followed the meowing and started digging through the rubble. The meowing stopped.

Look at the smile on her face. Probably the best thing that's happened to them since the storm.

Hokey smoke, that cat is 13!

9. Never mind the milk
Cat deserves a steak. And a beer, if cats drank beer, which some do.

31. A good Friday story, indeed!
What a great, uplifting story. I have tears in empathy.

But what a HAPPY story!

Both of our cats are 22+ years old and have survived several times that I didn't think they possibly could. Indoor/outdoor cats...just imagine the pitfalls they faced during all the years in a rural setting, with predators abound.

(Cats must truly have 9 lives. Lord love 'em!)

:hi:

Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 12:40 AM by AsahinaKimi
why is she holding the kitty that way? Kitty could have been hurt during the storm.. Could do more damage holding a kitty that way. I would never hold mine that way, and hes healthy.

like that shouldn't hurt it.

38. And...
If she was injured in the tornado, it's not likely she'd survive 16 days if those injuries were at all serious.
