Nature Break Story.
I was going to bed and looked out the sliding glass door and thought the cat was outside wanting to get in. As I went to the door to open it a skunk came to the door as if to be let in. I didn't let it in and it turned and ran off faster than I have seen skunks move. It was a small skunk, so likely young.

My Nature Break Moment.

2. Yes, he was in the house, and went out this morning.

3. LOL, I had a similar experience last summer.
I couldn't imagine why the dry cat food was such a mess every morning. The cats are usually pretty tidy eaters. Imagine my surprise when, one morning, I went downstairs to pour my coffee and instead of my cats, I saw a skunk casually snacking on the cat food. I don't know which one of us was more startled.

Skunk trundled out the way he came in: through the cat door. I promptly bricked up the cat door, much to kitties' annoyance, and the skunk's. But he hasn't been back this season.

4. similar experience
I have a cat with a "raccoon" striped tail.

Leaving for work, I left her a little dry food outdoors. I saw her nibbling on a little of it as I pulled out of the drive.

One last look as I drove away: the real thing, as in raccoon, suddenly appeared and finished what my raccoon-tail kitty didn't eat!

What struck me was the speed in which the dish was taken over after my kitty sauntered off. He must have been watching.
