Us serfs need to hear that even if changes are necessary benefits won't be reduced and that includes loss due to inflation.

2. But Obama has been trying to cut Social Security from day 1
After Congress refused to do it, Obama created the Debt Commission http://fdrdemocrats.org/the-common-sense-guide-to-social-security/6/">and appointed the two most virulent and accomplished attackers of Social Security to run it. It was then stocked with a majority that had already publicly stated that Social Security needs to be cut. And as expected, the Commission voted to recommend deep cuts, an eventual 22% cut over time.

6. Maybe a bluff?
Get them to show their cards, eg, the Ryan plan?

If the leaders would get together, go on TV and tell America they are going to solve this and everyone will be safety netted, their political futures will brighten considerably and ease a lot of worries.

7. I'm with you on the leaders going to the people - but that assumes they want...
...what the people want. I'm no longer convinced they do.

10. Not this bullshit again.
Debt commission failed, nobody is taking its recommendations.

"But Obama has been trying to cut Social Security from day 1"

You can repeat it as many times as you want, that is not going to make it true

11. Sure did get things going in that direction, though - and what's the reason...
...he chose the debt commission leaders he did, instead of including a progessive?

The commission served its purpose.

9. We need to let go of this fantasy that DC Dems are on our side.
Really, why would those three "need" to do that? How does that serve them in any way?

12. The only thing us serfs are going to hear...
Is that the beatings will continue until morale improves.

And, by the way, make sure to GOTV for Democrats in 2012.
