Republican Free Pass - Imagine if the Media Questioned Them As Vigoursly As They Did Rep. Weiner?

Do you remember those various interviews with reporters aggresive questioning Rep. Weiner regarding whether the photo was of his junk? It was a bullshit story, and he handled it stupidly, but you have to admit that reporters did not let him duck their questions.

So, what about Republicans, the economy, the debt ceiling, and their complete refusal to consider any stimulus. McConnell says that "taxes cuts are needed to create jobs," yet no one points out to him that the Bush tax cuts have never been repealed. Eric Cantor says that any closed loopholes must be used to create new tax cuts, but no one bothers to ask how is that consistent with cutting the deficit that he allegedly cares about. Republicans say that taxes will hurt the economy, but no one questions them about how layoffs due to budget cuts directly hits employment. Finally, Republicans are in complete disarray with Boehner and Kantor eager to throw each other under the bus as they undercut each other, yet we proclaim that the Republicans are master political strategists!

WTF? Heck, you look on DU, DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUD, and you see thread after thread bashing on Democrats, but Republicans get a relative free pass. Have we drank the corporate media Kool Aid such that we blame Democrats like Pavlov's dog?

We also have this selective hearing where we selective hearing where we completely ignore when Democrats are demanding the things we say that they should be demanding like spending on infrastructure, which President Obama does constantly. But, that does not stop many on DU from insisting that he is a closet Republican.

We are being trained by the media to Blame Democrats and Give Republicans a Free Pass. Look on DU, and you see a pattern of posters who repeatedly and viciously attack Democrats with spammed articles attacking Democrats while only mentioning Republicans as a means of attacking Democrats. Worse, you have posts that excuse Republicans by blaming their behavior and beliefs on Democrats.

The LA Times, which is oned by the conservative Tribune, runs an article declaring that Republicans are winners in a deal to raise the debt limit, then Firedoglake, an allegedly liberal site, then cites to and pastes this article from a conservative newspaper and makes the exact same point!!!

My point is that the corporate media is winning. We are buying into the narrative. We blame Democrats and give Republicans a free pass. Some folks get it. Some folks see the rampant corporate propaganda out there that gives Republicans a free pass, while trying to blame Democrats and turn them on each other.
