New poll carries warning signs for Obama in 2012
New poll carries warning signs for Obama in 2012

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A poll released on Wednesday carried warning signs for President Barack Obama's re-election chances in 2012.

The Public Policy Polling survey found that for the first time since July, Obama does not lead Republican front-runner Mitt Romney in the group's monthly national poll on the 2012 election race. Romney has pulled into a tie with Obama at 45 percent.

Obama's overall approval rating was at 46 percent, with 48 percent of voters disapproving of him, and this is in line with other recent surveys.

3. if this administration cuts social security and medicare benefits
and raises taxes on the middle class and is stuck in 10% unemployment - it is toast. Obama is in the midst of committing political suicide.

7. He would lose my vote. Can't say for anyone else.
But I can't see how he could retain much popularity if he goes along with cuts to SS.

But not all of them.

it'll be interesting to see if he garners the same enthusiasm from this bloc in 2012 as in 2008.

8. "committing political suicide"
He's got money.

He's got the gratitude (not shown openly) of the Kochs and Bushes and their friends.

What does he care if he only has to carry this charade out for four years?

10. Obama cut Cola's for two years now -- Unemployment may be as high as 21% ...!!
Unemployment is at least 15% when we count the long term unemployed --

which we should be absolutely doing --

then we also have those who are working part time rather than full time jobs --

not by choice -- and those working jobs they are overqualified for -- not by choice.

And, ending COLA's is a big hit for seniors over two years --

We need more tools to deal with this -- like a RECALL --

In some discussions, the Founders talked bout a conspiracy by the president and VP --

sound familiar? -- and in that case they recommended SUSPENDING THE ADMINISTRATION.

Watching this is like watching episodes of the Sopranos!!

4. Way too early to worry about this type of poll.
Early polls back showed Mondale beating Reagan. Just saying.

5. I think they also showed
Dukakis beating Bush the smarter and Kerry leading Bush the dumber.

The only one this poll would help would be Romney if it wasn't for the fact that the GOP primary voters don't like his religion, his history or the fact that he isn't outwardly batshit insane.

16. I'll stand with Harry!
"I've seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the fair Deal, and says he really doesn't believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don't want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign."
---Democratic President Harry Truman

25. I fully beleive..
.. that if Obama gives up SS and Medicare he is toast. And of course at that point he would deserve to be. Why vote for a Democrat if he's not going to stand by ANY core principles?
