Did anyone else see Rev Al yesterday?
He had a conversation with a panel of three and one of them was a republican who was insistent that the tax breaks for millionaires/billionaires would not be allowed to expire. He said they were working on means testing for the wealthy while allowing them to keep their tax breaks and that this was how they were appeasing the wealthy. The "r" said that the rich must keep their tax breaks so they could create more jobs.

Rev Al basically owned him after that by saying something like, so let me get this straight, we are taking away medicare from people who don't need or use it so that they can keep tax breaks in order to create more jobs that they can send overseas. The guy stumbled all over himself and Al cut to a commercial. It was a great thing to see.

4. You have to wonder why they aren't especially since the majority
of Americans are on the same page.

9. I don't wonder at all...
...by and large, Washington politicians are owned by the big-money boys, so they don't want to rock the boat too hard. Until we address that issue we will continue to get corporate governance in place of something approaching representative democracy.

What the majority of Americans wants is, right now, irrelevant. These politicians look to their sources of money and then espouse positions that will keep the money flowing.

7. He is growing on me quickly.
Personally, I don't agree with his old persona but I wanted to give him a chance. One thing which concerns me is that he has made it clear he won't be critical of the president at all, but otherwise he has good things to say and really nails a lot of his guests.

6. Wow. That Al is Sharp! I was watching last week when....
...James Buchanan referred to Pres. Obama as "your boy," to Al! Sharpton's reply and response was SUPER PERFECT!! He can really think fast on his feet and come up with the perfect comeback!!! Without being angry or insulting. Love him in this show.

if they made about x they wouldn't collect Social Security even though they paid into it.

10. I saw it. Al kicked his ass!
He's getting better as time goes on. He needs to be a bit smoother in managing his time. I wanted to hear what the Tulane poly-sci Prof. had to say yesterday (Perry, dang, can't remember her name but I love her) but Al had to cut her off in mid-sentence. Other than that, I LOVE his bluntness. LOVE it.

12. Yawn.
More "you suck, we rule" , "You're stupid, we're smart" entertainment.

If you wonder why there are seemingly smart people standing up for conservative/libertarian policies that don't make any sense, it's because talking heads on both sides keep the fire of division burning.

Those seemingly smart people are damn dumb.

14. It's supposed to be a news network, isn't it? Isn't he on msnbc?
When it's on a mainstream channel like that it gets out to a lot of people and really influences how they interact with people who may disagree.

I thought it was great. I don't usually get to watch Al and I don't usually get to hear the "r's" so concisely put in their place. I really enjoyed it.

19. I used to but then I realized it really doesn't belong on a channel we are supposed to rely on for
reporting the news.
But more so now I figured out it's the reason we can't get anything done.
Having a TV personality "put people in their place" is entertaining for sure, but its helped bring us where we are today.

21. I have to agree that it is stuff like this that brings us where we are today but
I don't think I've thought of MSNBC as a news channel for a very long time. I think the local 6:00 pm news and the Newshour on PBS are my only real source of news on TV. Things have changed and the cable stations are pretty much all entertainment for political junkies.

I still appreciated Al not allowing the republican to tell us how hard the very rich have it.

As an aside I don't get why they think anyone would swallow their line about not raising taxes at least on the very well to do.

22. Well that's precisely it. You and I don't think of msnbc or fox or cnn as a news channel but
but plenty of people do.

And they get it in their head that the other side is a big dummy or a ________ fill in the blank.
Then it carries over to talk radio and the op eds in the paper and it's basically a propaganda war.
