If the Bush tax cuts were never extended, the US would have never been downgraded
Edited on Fri Aug-05-11 08:44 PM by Cali_Democrat
Credit rating agencies warned about the lack of revenue and it's impact on the deficit when the tax cut extension was brokered late last year.

When the new deficit deal contained no additional revenue, a downgrade became inevitable.

See my post from December of last year.

This is why you don't follow Republican policies.

5. And what did we get with it?
Maybe a few more months of unemployment benefits, together with a screwed up economy that's not going to provide enough jobs for those folks to get off of UC? The Repukes will fight tooth and nail against extending unemployment benefits again, they know that the President will prostrate himself before them to keep a trickle going. He'll be talked into Social Security cuts as the price of UC benefits.

3. This is not about S&P
It's about absurd tax policies the US has been pursuing for some time now.

If you want to pretend that the Bush tax cuts don't have an extremely negative impact on the deficit, be my guest.

4. Look, Bush was really really suckie
but the spending hasn't helped.

We need jobs. Why didn't the Administration let the Bush tax cuts expire when they were supposed to. Big mistake.
