Judge Ciavarella got 28 years for sentencing kids as young as 10 to serve time in a privately owned prison. Good. Since he's 61, it is likely he will die in prison. I wish that to happen. I wish him misery and pain and personal anguish that is ceaseless.

Now what about the guy who paid this judge to do this? That would be one Robert Mericle. Run that name through the google machine and you come up blank with respect to any legal sanction against this guy.

The judge was a lowlife who showed his price.

The briber, the guy with the actual money, what about him?

2. "Prison" is not for the ownership class, mere citizen!
For starters, they own the courts...

4. He gets off Richard Lynn Scott free!
It is the true American way. Fuck over one or a few people (rob a store) and rot in jail. Fuck over hundreds of people (rob a bank) and die in prison. Fuck over millions of people (ponzi scheme) and GET ELECTED GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA! See how that works? America...land by and for the rich opportunist/criminal!

5. Really, which google did you use?
http://www.timesleader.com/news/Federal-prosecutors-seek-stiffer-sentence-for-Robert-Mericle.html

SCRANTON – The U.S. Attorney’s Office has filed a modification to the plea agreement with Robert Mericle that will likely increase the sentence he faces for his guilty plea related to the Luzerne County corruption probe.

The amendment, filed Thursday, alters a section of the plea agreement that stated the U.S. Attorney’s office would recommend Mericle be sentenced to the minimum under federal sentencing guidelines. In its place, the government inserted language that says it is now free to recommend a higher sentence, up to the maximum.

The government has also included language that would allow it to seek a higher sentence for Mericle based on “obstructing or impeding the administration of justice.” The document does not state what action Mericle has allegedly taken to obstruct justice.

7. Thanks. I googled different terms, like "sentenced" and "trial". From your story, he's still free.
And they raise his max sentence to still months instead of years.

I think he should get double whatever the knucklehead judge gets.

10. Amazing, innit?
How can the SAME crimes be treated so unfairly between the fundamental criminal and the putz who was his hitman?

(Not arguing with you, just ranting at the moon. :hi: )

6. Surely he will also get 28 years right.
Just because he's some big corporate investor does not mean that he is going to get off free? Right?

Bwawawawa, Of course he is going to get off and probably keep all that money he stole from the people. Falsely charging tax payers for extended prison stays is against the law. But all corporations are above the law yet have the same voting rights as people.
