Anyone need rain along the SE Gulf/Coast?

3. jeff Master says, at this point, a lot of possibilities.
"Given the uncertainties, this weekend would be a good time to go over your hurricane preparedness if you live anywhere in the Caribbean, Bahamas, or U.S. coast, since Irene could well be paying you a visit as a tropical storm or hurricane sometime in the next week."

( getting out my list of "storm home" friends across the counry....."

10. Don't say that.
It's potentially coming to my back door, and I don't need any of that nonsense on top of my own concern about it.

11. I was looking at the tracks of past storms and...
...I fear Irene will have a track similar to Hurricane David of 1979.

25. I think Irene will go north of the forcast track and mostly miss Hispanola.
Which is BAD NEWS for the Carolinas. when she hits the gulf stream she will bomb out.

9. I'm in the Gulf off Alabama now, but will be back to Jax next Friday
I hope that I can get the my rain catch system cleaned out well before this comes to fill em up.

I don't want to be on this ship in the gulf when any storms get close. Being on anchorage is boring.

13. Pretty well
We've got a happy, healthy 5 month old and I've been busy with the marine endangered species work since leaving CES. I don't miss those ignorant assholes one bit. The best thing I got from them was a pickup truck they didn't want to spend $500 to repair. Two years later the truck is still trucking. The way they operated their business I'm surprised they're still in business. Half the crap I delivered I had to get from Consolidated or some other company downtown.

Hows things with you? Are you still working down the road?

I hope this storm hangs on till next weekend and isn't too strong, I've got a tree I need to trim in the backyard with a huge dead section.

We weren't so lucky in 1988.

We're still watching with interest.

22. Everyone should be delighted that this stormis still not organized
This would have been a mega-hurricane - it is huge. Thankfully it is unlikely to be more that a Cat1 no matter where Irene crash lands.
