Stick a fork in Gaddafi...
Alex Crawford of Sky News is reporting live that the column of Rebels are advancing towards downtown Tripoli meeting no resistance. Scores of people are outside celebrating.

Callers to Al Jazeera are suggesting that Gaddafi's sons have been arrested near a hotel used by foreign journalists.

Al Jazeera also says Gaddafi's bodyguards have surrendered. Conflicting information on Gaddafi himself. Some reports suggest he has been killed.

9. Without me also, malaise.
Nothing changes. We will install a nice Western puppet and those who don't go along, will suffer the fate many Iraqis suffered.

I will not be surprised to see the cheering even on Democratic forums.

He made the mistake of deciding to limit the profits of the Global Cartels. He should have known better.

He could have executed babies every day if only he had cooperated, like Karamov in Uzbekistan, or our other wonderful ally in Colombia, commit genocide of his own people, and we would have continued to invite him to DC Cocktail parties.

I actually thought he was smarter than he turned out to be.

37. I believe it is against DU rules to falsely accuse
other DUers of making statements they did not make. Before I alert, something I have done only once on anyone here, I want you to back up that comment with links to my statements that 'Obama bad' 'Gadhafi good'.

This kind of false statement is exactly what concerns people, and to not be able to get something right that is right in front of their eyes, definitely raises questions about everything else they write.

FYI, you picked the wrong person to make that accusation against. I have never once said that Obama was bad, not once, ever, anywhere, I have said the opposite when speaking about him as a person. Nor have I ever, not once, said that Gadhafi was 'good', never, nowhere, ever.

You have zero credibility about everything else when you make such false statements about something so easy to check.

4. He's done
Look, think what you will of US Policy

Gaddafi was on, and then off, and then on again - and then off again, our pay

Just like Bin Laden, Hussein, the other Hussein, the Ayatollah, and numerous other dictators...

Not to mention Mubarak, who, like an idiot filled with pride, stuck around way too long. And now look at him

If he could have found a sympathetic country - yes, that would have been Israel - but he would have to watch his back - he might have escaped

Pride is your enemy, no matter what your pursuit is

Napoleon had Waterloo, his 'last ditch effort' to rule a fraction of a dot (Carl Sagan ref here :) )

12. Too bad we supported him for so long, and will continue to
back the violence that will now take place, as we are doing in Iraq.

And how about the prisoners, if any are still alive, in Uzbekistan? The people can't even rise up, the last time they tried Karamove mowed them in the streets and we continue to fund him.

Sorry I can't celebrate the violence and the killing of ordinary citizens. Or the installation of another puppet government in another Arab country.

16. Well why are you against this revolution?
NATO killed less than 30 civilians, and they should not have been where they were. Gaddafi has killed 13,000 plus since Feb.

The recent 85 civilians claimed by the Gaddafi regime was a lie. They were killed by Gaddafi.

Fortunately, NATO has everything recorded and it has been delivered to the ICC.

They also have 1000s of hours of taped Gaddafi regime conversations including the planning of staged events to blame NATO fopr stuff they did not do.

Yes, I agree with no civilians deaths - that is why I supported NATO STOPPING THEM by GADDAFI!!!

It isn't about "violence and the killing of ordinary citizens" but celebrating the END of that.

THAT is what this is about. If another puppet gvt gets installed, protest and speak out. But to say something is wrong with celebrating the overthrow OF a puppet gvt, or celebrating the END of killing ordinary citizens? Something is wrong with that.

First we watched as our good friend Mubarek was overthrown, then we saw the ruthless murder of Bin Laden who was merely waiting in his house for a court summons to receive his fair trial, and now we watch as Ghaddafi is overthrown by rebels and without our funneling hundreds of billions of dollars into no-bid private contracts. WTF Obama.

103. All of those Libyan 'rebels' were CIA-trained mercenaries.
Actually, every man, woman, and child in Libya is a CIA asset; there are no civilians left in Libya, and haven't been any for over twenty years now. All members of sleeper cells.

It's all an elaborate ruse put in motion by Obama The Evil Mastermind, drawn up by him many years ago as one part of his plan to control the entire world.

Al Jazeera reporting 3 of Gadhafi's sons are being held by rebels; Saif and Saadi captured, Mohammed surrendered - via NBC News

I'm still not so sure about Saadi, I haven't heard his name on the AJ stream.

Guess I still get excited when a brave oppressed people win victory. I'm not sophisticated enough to be a Eeyore wannabe and piss in the beer of any peoples fight for freedom.
What the hell has happened to us? Rhetorical, don't answer, please. I see enough whining and wailing on GD. What has been accomplished is nothing short of magnificent. Tunisia, Egypt, Libya.
As for timing, I wonder how Bashir Assad is sleeping tonight? I supposed democracy in Syria would be "bad" too. :eyes:

106. Can't really tell for sure...
because every time it was reported one had been killed other reports came out saying that they were not killed.
Guess we will have to wait until into the future to see which ones show up somewhere.

Even the report of an adopted daughter being killed has NOT be totally confirmed.

Excerpt:
... "He is also said to have adopted two children, Hanna and Milad. Hanna was apparently killed in 1986 at the age of four, during the retaliatory US bombing raids; the facts are disputed however, and either the daughter may not have died; the adoption may have been posthumous; or he may have adopted a second daughter after the first one died." ...
