The AZ Massacre is Eerily Reminiscent To The Tragedy In Ohio Where A Female Sheriffs Deputy Was Shot...

....edited to add links......

I live just 45 minutes from the scene where one of the most tragic and heartbreaking events to take place here in Ohio in my lifetime and it absolutely devastated me as well as my entire community and Law Enforcement Agencies from all across the United States. For those of you who don't know a newly married Mother of two was shot to death by a 12 gage shot gun from nearly point blank range by a 57 year mentally ill man at a trailer park in a very poor trailer park in the village of Enon, Ohio. Enon, like most of our community here in western Ohio is mostly rural country area with a shit load of poor and very poor people who were devastated when the Automotive Industry here in Ohio became non-existent resulting in the unemployment of hundreds of thousands if not millions of people all across the states of Ohio and Indiana leaving them with no where to turn and not many easy decisions to make.

Also the Western Counties here in Ohio where I live and where the tragic shooting took place is extremely right wing Republican tea partiers you will ever meet. I almost feel like I am living in the deep south here in my community. These folks are as hardcore as they come, they love their guns, they worship their god, they're paranoid of big government and actually believe that our fine President wasn't born in America and he is socialist muslim who is going to take over the entire country by expanding Government. It is sickening to hear for the few actually smart and dedicated Democrats and the few Liberals that I am proud to call myself.

My point being that the tragic and devastating massacre in Arizona has a lot of parallels to the January 1, 2011 slaying of a female Deputy Sheriff, the wonderful Suzanne Waughtel Hopper who was I believe just 30 years of age. Think about it, the shooter is a confirmed Mentally Ill man who claimed to be a disciple of god, and who through my research is a very staunch RW'er who was increasingly paranoid and fearful of the Government as well as a birther and he shared the belief that President Obama was a Muslim but he was hiding it until he took the Government over. He is a very mentally ill man who I can confidently conclude was a teabagger.

He first shot his neighbors window out for no reason apparently just to get Police Officers to come. When the Deputy Hopper arrived, with no clue where the original gun shot came from, or if in fact the window was shot by a gun, because the lately didn't report hearing a gun shot. As Deputy Hopper got on the scene she investigated for awhile talking to the original caller, then she found a shoe print very close to the trailer of the shooter approx 1-2 feet from the door of the killers trailer. She got out her digital camera to take a picture of it to use as evidence. In the process of taking the picture, unaware to her, mentally ill resident Micheal Ferryman opened the door to the trailer and fired a 12 gage shotgun about 1-2 feet from her head, shooting her in the face and killing her instantly. The man kept shooting and when other Police arrived on the scene they tried to retrieve the Deputies body but when they would get close they would get shot at. So a fire fight then ensued with 57 year old Michael Ferryman shooting Officer Jeremy Blum of the German Township Police Dept in the arm and chest, fortunately Officer Blum Survived the shooting. After an extensive fire fight with Police, the suspect Michael Ferryman was shot and killed.

It was just an all around tragedy for everyone involved and for our community and the state of Ohio as a whole. A wonderful Sheriffs Deputy was killed shot at near point blank range by a mentally ill man who was also feared of the Government. To me personally it was an event that really made me open my eyes to the very scary possibility that more individuals like the AZ Killer and the Ohio Killer who were paranoid of big Govt, probably Sarah Palin and God Worshipers, it is scary to think of how many more tragic incidents like this are going to happen in the coming months and years to came. There are many copycats who have now saw how much media attention both have gotten and the mentally ill or deranged may in fact copycat these horrible and unnecessary tragedies in the near future, I can't stand to see even 1 more case of a presumably RW'er or any mentally ill individual take the life of anymore innocent individuals, whether they represent a Political party, whether they represent Law Enforcement or the Government, or whether they are just an average person who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This has got to stop. I truly believe that a majority of our eyes are open to the reasons behind these tragic killings, yet somes eyes are not open. In my humble opinion in both instances of tragedy the men where cold and calculated in the planning of their horrific crimes, both men committed the crimes to protest against the Government and what they have been told by the Hardcore RW'ers and what they are brainwashed with on Fox by the likes of Glen Beck and O'Reilly as well as countless other extremist on that channel spewing hate and fear and lies. I may get criticized for saying this but I truly believe Sarah Palin and her rhetoric of hate and her implying guns and violence and drawing maps with targets simulating a firearm on 20 congressmen & women is the problem and it has to stop.

For those of you not familiar with the heartbreaking slaying of the Sheriffs Deputy here in Ohio...The following is a link to information about the story. I challenge you to not criticize me because of my beliefs, they're simply what I believe, if you disagree, lets try something that isn't common practice on this site anymore like when I joined in 2004, lets agree to disagree or lets have a civil debate. I would love for someone to read through both cases and tell me if they see the similarities that I see because to me it is very similar in nature...

2. It was an outrage and a shame. But Sarah Palin and Enon Beach are just two deranged individuals.

Crazy goes beyond any particular political sentiment.

The actual danger is that any unbalanced person has access to guns and ammo because those products are tolerated (if not promoted) as things which should somehow be at all times abundantly available in our society.

The products are the problem.

3. I Agree the guns are the problem but it is also the operator of the gun that is the true problem...
I am a 21 year old and I am a Security Officer in the very violent and deadly city of Dayton, Ohio and I wouldn't go to work without my gun. The fact is that I agree the gun laws we have on the books suck, the assault weapons ban should have been re-instated by now, I cannot understand why that wasn't President Obama's priorities while he had control of both houses.

But I really do agree that people with mental illnesses should not be allowed to own or be in possession of firearms, I also agree that the product is a problem, but in my opinion the owner of the product is the biggest problem because they are responsible for that gun bing fired. As a Security Officer I have gone through extensive firearms training, I am attend monthly firearms training classes, and I am an overall responsible individual with my gun.

However, I would not be safe at my job without a gun. Just as Police Officers would not be safe doing their jobs without firearms. I also believe that a majority of gun owners, by all means not all, are generally pretty responisble individuals who either carry a gun because their job requires it or they carry a gun for their own personal safety or the safety of others, or in some cases some have guns to defend themselves in their businesses from robberies.

I will be the first to admit that I am, much like Congresswoman Giffords, a proud and responsible gun owner and I believe that we need to re-instate the assault weapons ban as well as look into limiting the number of bullets a clip can hold or even the caliber of firearms that average everyday individuals are allowed to purchase. I support responsible gun ownership with stiff background and mental health background checks for anyone attempting to purchase firearms, I do however believe strongly that the words of hate and the violent rhetoric of the likes of Palin and Beck and Limbaugh and all of Fox is dangerous ecspecially mixed with mental illnesses or alcohol or just basic distrust of Government is an absolute recipe for disaster and has to stop now.

I see alot of similarities between the OH Sheriff Killer Michael Ferryman and the AZ Massacre Jared Loughner...

Just my opinion tho...take it for what its worth!

4. Crazy is a right. Guns and ammo aren't.

Crazy we might treat with the cooperation of the crazy person.

But access to guns and ammo is a relatively simple public policy issue.

In the USA, our attitude is that guns and ammo are so beloved they should be easy to get. We are offended if impediments are placed in the way of getting them.
