. . . . . . . . . deep breath . . . . . . . . .
Too many locked threads.

Too many raised voices.

If I have learned ANYTHING from almost ten years here - learned the hard way, with a well-earned banning for starters - it is knowing when banging out my rage on the keyboard is more trouble than it is worth.

When remembering that whoever pissed you off will be there tomorrow, thus the argument does not need to be won tonight.

When the time has come to step...away.

EVERYONE is heated...across the board. Literally and figuratively.

Remember two things:

1. The person you are going volcanic on, or the person going volcanic on you, probably agrees with about 95% of what you agree with.

2. Nobody is forcing you to type anything.

Deep breath.

Walk away.

Trust me on this.

What a fine girl
What a good wife
You would be

My love
And my lady

2. There's nothing wrong with anger. The trick is figuring out where to direct it
And our Ruling Class Overlords spend lots of time and money getting us to direct it away from them

5. Seems to be a real "perfect storm of issues" crossing right now..
Between the Second Amendment gun and gun control issues, the mental health issues, and first amendment issues colliding with violent speech.

Good reminder, however. (I needed it more, however during the recent Vick furor);)

8. it's why I don't post as much any more.
I can't stand conflict, and I lose it. I'll go ballistic and then regret it. Not worth it. I have high blood pressure as it is. No point in allowing my temper to kill me. Whoever I go off on will neither know nor care that I sprung a leak because of them. :)

You go WHHHAAARRRRRGARRRBLE!!11!1!ELEVENS!!1! on someone, three things might/will happen.

1. They see it, you get banned.

2. They don't see it, you get banned.

3. It gets deleted by a Mod, you don't get banned, but feel like a leaky asshole once you regain your senses.

No fun all around.

Been there. Done that. Got the cookie.

10. It's only important if you consider getting banned from
an internet forum has any consequence in your life at all, because if it does you really ought to examine your life.

I guess when you grow up you realize what's really meaningful in life. In the mean time you do have this, so ya got that goin' for ya.

and you haven't a clue about me nor I about you. Well, except that I can now discern that you have a condescension gene. That's a hard one to live with. I hope you only utilize it online, otherwise, well, yuck.

12. This is a community of long standing
Weird considering many, if not most of us have never, and will never meet. I wouldn't care to get banned. I went out tonight and got caught in a snowstorm. I almost would have preferred staying home for the shitstorm. Almost.

18. We went to a poly meetup in downtown Seattle
Definitely ranks as the stupidest thing we've done in 2011 (fun though the meetup was). The drive home was scary. There is about 3 inches on the ground here in Kenmore.

There's a "Kenmore" not two miles from where I sit.

Kenmore Square.

Three inches of snow on the ground there. Here, too.

:)

Sorry, you caught me short, tavalon. I actually had to click your file to make sure we weren't neighbors. Shoulda known.

22. Would that we were
Though it was easier to crush on you when you were single. It was, well, more seemly.

I used to live a stone's throw from Andy and you stayed in my Barge when you came for his memorial and yet, we've never quite met. Odd, huh? (yeah, that Pepto Bismol Pink Barge with the cute little loft was my digs at the time). I know D., though we haven't gotten together once since he moved to Renton. That is something I need to remedy.

Small world, eh, Will?

30. problem is, they tend to surface in the general world when a bad gun event happens.
most of the time, we can safely ignore them...and then we see that "strange world" unfold before our very eyes...they'll go back into that little world once this event simmers down...
