I haven't posted much on this but bottom line is when it becomes acceptable to throw out violent rhetoric something is wrong.
Schools have 0 tolerance for weapons of any kind. I have seen various threads decrying so and so got kicked out because of ________________(something they think is inconsequential) We can't take that chance that it was innocent.
Politicians should have the same filter. It may mean nothing but you never know what some nutbag is going to do or take even if it is out of context.
Bottom line....
Violent politcal imagery and rhetoric is irresponsible at best and dangerous at wost (thank you to the Duer who said this quote first...sorry I don't remember who it was)
I hear a good bit of yakity yak around here about the evils of some speech and how "you never know what some nutbag is going to do or take even if it is out of context."
All well and good but what do you want to do about it?
Person A has the right to say the craziest most batshit off the walls stuff you can imagine
Person B retains the right to call person A an idiot and spout off their own brand of crazy in response
I oppose anything that shuts that process down or starts categorizing speech into the "unacceptable" and "acceptable" category in any official or legal way.
*steps back and wait for the first person to say "What about screaming fire in a crowded theater?*
