Sarah

Today has been set aside to honor the victims of the Tucson massacre. And Sarah Palin has apparently decided she's one of them.

PALIN HITS BACK

Accuses Journalists Of 'Blood Libel' For Assigning Blame
In a scathing Facebook post and web-video tirade, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin accused the media of “blood libel” against her for mentioning her infamous cross-hair map in the wake of the shooting in Tucson. Palin called journalists and pundits’ focus on her “reprehensible,” and said it “serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn.”

Palin has the audacity to cite Giffords in her screed:

Just days before she was shot, Congresswoman Giffords read the First Amendment on the floor of the House. It was a beautiful moment and more than simply “symbolic,” as some claim, to have the Constitution read by our Congress. I am confident she knew that reading our sacred charter of liberty was more than just “symbolic.”

Since Palin chose to cite Congresswoman Giffords, we will too. From March 25, 2010:

"For example, we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district, and when people do that, they've gotta realize there are consequences to that action."

Giffords and 19 others faced the real consequences of being in a gun sight.

Palin is now dealing with the political consequences of using that violent imagery and urging her followers to RELOAD!. This is a test for Palin. She's failing.

AND
No, Sarah. Blood Libel does not mean what you think it means.

"The blood libel is something anti-Semites have historically used in Europe as an excuse to murder Jews – the comparison is stupid. Jews and rational people will find it objectionable. This will forever link her to the events in Tucson. It deepens the hole she’s already dug for herself... It’s absolutely inappropriate."

Jonah Goldberg posted this about an hour ago:
But I think that the use of this particular term in this context isn’t ideal. Historically, the term is almost invariably used to describe anti-Semitic myths about how Jews use blood — usually from children — in their rituals.

7. "blood libel"....
Wow! That is highly inappropriate considering her attempts to portray herself as a great Christian. If a Jewish person said it, it might be found to mean unjustified persecution. When she uses that term it sounds like a desperate attempt to co-opt another group's pain without actually experiencing it. The Jewish people were tortured and killed over blood libel for years. boo hoo hoo Sarah, people called you names! I imagine that the African witch hunting minister that spoke at her church believed in blood libel of the people he persecuted too.

8. Good Word For Her Rant - Tirade.......
I hope that this is how it's portrayed in the MSM - an angry, self-serving, tirade to try to absolve her self from any blame for her inappropriate and insensitive use of words and symbols that incite rather than serve.
