Clyburn: Palin Intellectually Unable To 'Understand What's Going On'
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/01/clyburn-palin-intellectually-unable-to-understand-whats-going-on.php?ref=fpb

In her response to the tragic shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and 19 others in Arizona, Sarah Palin criticized journalists for manufacturing a "blood libel" against her. On a radio program this morning, Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn (D-SC) said that the former Alaska Governor "just can't seem to get it."

"You know, Sarah Palin just can't seem to get it, on any front. I think she's an attractive person, she is articulate," Clyburn said on the Bill Press radio show, according to The Hill. "But I think intellectually, she seems not to be able to understand what's going on here."

Clyburn said that his experiences in the Civil Rights Era gives him a different understanding of the relationship between rhetoric and action, and says what he sees and hears today reminds him of what he heard back then.

"I have some experiences that maybe she does not have," he said. "When I see and hear things today that are reminiscent of that period of time, I am very, very concerned about it, because I know what it led to back then, and I know what it can lead to again."

2. I like that...she is to be pitied for her lack of comprehension...
Porr Sarah is just too much of a ditz to understand what's going on. Not responsible for her actions, sort of like the guy in AZ.

3. My Sentiments Exactly
As I heard part of her video. Then I thought, she'll never be the candidate from the GOP in 2012. What a loss for late night tv!

4. I heard that on Bill Press' radio show this morning
And I agree with Clyburn completely. She doesn't "get it" and never will.

5. Watch him get accused of playing the race card and being too sensitive
or having a chip on his shoulder. (Hell, we see that sort of thing still, denial of dog whistling, even around here at the DU.)

Coming in 5...4...3...2...

6. Ethics
People in the public eye, whether they like it or not, are role models. I'm not talking about pro athletes but those in the political forum. Policy makers. In this capacity there is a responsibility to observe appropriate ethics. But you don't see that. Leaders, primarily on the right like to play to base instincts and emotions. Lying is a common practice as is shouting down any opposition. This doesn't make this country look very intelligent. I heard Heidi Harris say that politics has always been that way, so if thats the case we should get rid of political parties and maybe put the constitution on the scrap heap and start over. Just a thought.

8. Howard Fineman on KO last night said something similar....

Interesting interview, kindof. Palin's a grifter and willing to say and do anything for her love of money and that fact never seems to get proper exposure.

9. Does this mean he thinks she should NOT be President?
I mean, she can always get others to "understand" or "comprehend" things for her, and she looks so great! :eyes:
