Breitbart: Alan Dershowitz Defends Sarah Palin’s Use of Term ‘Blood Libel’
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 02:14 PM by steve2470
http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/01/12/exclusive-alan-dershowitz-defends-sarah-palins-use-of-term-blood-libel/

In an exclusive statement, famed attorney and Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz defended Sarah Palin’s use of the term “blood libel” from multiple detractors. As the MediaMatters/MSM/Democrat narrative on the Tucson tragedy unravels, they are getting a lot more desperate in their attacks on Palin. Fortunately, there are still plenty of honest liberals around. Dershowitz also noted that accusations Palin inspired Jared Lee Loughner’s massacre are patently false:

The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report. There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term.

Is Dershowitz a Palin lover or something ?

on edit: Thanks for the answers to my question above.

2.  Is Dershowitz a Palin lover or something ?
He's a neo-liberal, and they love promoting the useful idiots into leadership positions because they're easily manipulated.

See Reagan, and W for recent examples.

5. Why is Dershowitz issuing an exclusive statement to Breitbart?

This is curious especially in light of the fact that the phrase is being used as a RW talking point.

"There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term."

TPM: Palin's Use Of 'Blood Libel' Mirrors That In Right-Wing Media

<...>

Andrew Brietbart used the phrase in a tweet last night (though it's likely Palin's video, posted in the early morning hours Wednesday, was filmed before that tweet).

14. "Is Dershowitz a Palin lover or something ?" You have no idea.*
*Reference to Jeremy Iron's line in "Reversal of Fortune," the movie based on Dershowitz's book on his role in defending Claus von Bulow.

15. LOL! Dershowitz didn't miss this opportunity to get some ink
Well played Mr. Dershowitz!

He also got in a free slam against Judge Goldstone.

Seriously though, Dershowitz has lost his marbles. He is perfectly OK with torture don't ya know!
