Republican Congressman Caught With His Pants Down, Literally
Source: Addicting Info

It wasn’t that long ago that New York Democratic Congressman, Anthony Wiener, “tweeted” pictures of himself in boxers to a girl online. The outspoken Democratic, who was loved by progressives around the country for his spot on criticism of the Republican Party, saw his political career come to an end. Once the story broke, Republicans, conservatives and their home base, Fox News, jumped on the story to point out how disgraceful the once proud liberal was. We have seen many scandals involving Republicans in the past, including just a few months ago as Republican congressman Chris Lee was found to have posted shirtless pictures of himself on Craigslist. This time, the shoe is on the other foot.

The name that will now haunt the GOP is Roberto Arango. Arango is the Republican Senator from Puerto Rico and former co-chair for George W. Bush’s 2004 Puerto Rico campaign. Arango has been outspoken about his fierce opposition towards same-sex marriage and the civil rights of the LGBT community, but once again another conservative proves himself to be a hypocrite. This past Friday, pictures of the homophobic Senator surfaced online, and these weren’t pictures of himself in a business suit. These pictures weren’t even of the Senator in his boxers, like Anthony Wiener. The pictures that Arango took were too disturbing to even describe. Arango was caught not just naked, but in “compromising” positions. The Puerto Rican Senator tried to defend his actions with a less than stellar response.

“You know I’ve been losing weight. As I shed that weight, I’ve been taking pictures. I don’t remember taking this particular picture but I’m not gonna say I didn’t take it.”

Arango has since put in his resignation and has decided to step down. It seems that with each passing year, as Republican congressmen grow stronger on their stance against equality for the LGBT community, more and more of them get caught with their pants down, literally. The bigger issue is that when their pants are down, they are with other men; life, sometimes, is just ironic.

Senator Arango: Take a step back, chill out, smoke a blunt, and come out of the closet.

2. Every freakin' time.
Every time one of these guys comes out as anti-gay this and anti-gay that, they turn out to be gay. What's the freakin' deal, GOPers? Can't you handle life?

4. Almost every Republican politician takes a homophobic stance, as do most of their constituents.
I very much doubt most Republicans are gay.

The Republican homophobia, real or faked (and willingness to fake homophobia is real homophobia), more a function of the Republicans depending on RW religous extremists for votes, especially in primaries. A lot of bad things have come from that. And I say this as a person of faith.

thinking this is a socially acceptable occasion for Democrats to make homophobic remarks, so I hope this thread does not take a wrong turn.

As far as "Arango" being the name that will replace Weiner's in anyone's mind or memory as to naked photos of men's privates, good luck with that.

P.S. Yet one more reason I will not use the term "progressive:"

"Arango represented the New Progressive Party of Puerto Rico as a San Juan district senator...."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Arango

My orignal reason? Will Marshall, co-founder of the DLC and signed of the 2003 PNAC memo founded and heads the "Progressive" Policy Institute.

People seem to think "progressive" is something like "liberal," only without the stain rightists wrongly hung on the word "liberal." However, for me, "progressive" is a term that either has no real meaning at all and therefore should be avoided like the plague, or a term that is used to avoid the stain of Republicansism, and therefore should be, at best, suspected.

Signed, a liberal, who gives a cheerful smile and the middle finger salute to all who try to shame liberals

7. No double standard really
If Arango went after Clarence Thomas and his wife's conflict of interest, he would be taken down too.
