"I work in For-Profit Education. I hate myself for it. AMA."
For the uninitiated: Reddit.com has a section where people of all descriptions can answer your questions about their profession, lifestyle, disability, or what have you.

This guy is spilling the beans about private vocational schools. This quote says a lot: "This might be a really good time to mention our one rule when hiring: If a candidate submits a resume and lists an online for-profit education school as their education (ours included), it is immediately thrown out. Let's just say we know our product."

They're not interested in taking the students' money. They're after federal dollars.

1. A businessman I know does the same thing
Any resume sent to him with a degree from a for profit school goes straight into the recycle bin, unless that person has other real world experience to make them valuable.

7. Yeah, seriously....
I go to one of those for profit schools. Part of my training is in hospitals that have hired people from the very school I am going too, so I know there are places who hire from these "diploma mills". I need to know who doesn't so I can avoid them and encourage others to do the same.

5. Ya, but this guy is saying the ForProfitU tosses its own graduates resumes in the trash
not just any business - the ForProfitU, itself won't even hire its own grads.

9. I was interested in taking a sewing course or two at a Montreal
for profit school. I walked in an immediately had some salesguy, half my age, slickly trying to sell me on as many courses as possible. He had no idea what he was talking about. The whole admin area was full of these temporary salespeople. It was so sad. I didn't end up taking the course. I just bought the textbook and figured that would be the only thing worth it.
