8. Excellent point: Beware of demagogues like Robespierre

Robespierre was more concerned about some silly phantom he called "revolutionary virtue" than rebuilding France after the fall of the Bourbons. Under the concept of revolutionary virtue, supporters of the revolution, including members of the General Assembly, were as bad as royalists if they simply weren't fanatical enough in their support for the revolution or their hatred of monarchy.

Instead of democracy, the French Revolution ended by replacing tyrant Kings with a tyrant Emperor. Some virtue.
