Question for DUers
How come it is OK to pitch tents overnight outside stores for Black Friday sales, but not for protesters in public parks?

3. LOL!
It's magical! Zombies who want nothing more than to part with their money for baubles and make the 1% wealthier are far more 'productive' citizens than those irritating people who want the 1% to part with their money.

Hey! This are teh land of Capitalism!

11. Maybe not the riot squad,...
...but I've seen the regular police called to deal with a neighbor situation a number of times.

I'm a believer in respecting other peoples' rights. The big problem I have with OWS's tactics is their indiscriminate disregard for other peoples' rights while they're screaming about their own rights being violated. I really don't like hypocrisy.

13. Yeah, those hypocritical civil rights demonstrators caused a lot of inconvenience
When they did sit ins at lunch counters and forced themselves to the front of buses.

They should have waited for the political process rather than violating the rights of others.

Who did they think they were?

15. when they did that...
they didn't infringe on the rights of dozens...perhaps hundreds...of people. Least of all, the very people they were trying to fight FOR.

I'm going to point out the difference in attitude between some here and some of the actual protesters I've heard speak on TV.

Yesterday someone from CNN was speaking with a protester about the plan to occupy subways. The question was, what did this young woman think about how blocking subways would impact rush hour commuters.

Instead of giving an in-your-face reply, this young woman very humbly stated that it wasn't their intent to block the subways...just to be there, and talk with people, etc. I liked her. I liked her explanation.

There was also a young man who gave a very rational and humble explanation of the goals...what they wanted to achieve...how they want to bring parity, equality, fairness to everyone, etc., etc.

Again. None of this snarky in-your-face shit. I liked him, also, and the way he explained things made me very empathetic.

THAT is the difference.

Humility and dignity.

Not in-your-face arrogance.

17. After you have heard the same crap repeated ad-nauseam here it gets hard to take it seriously..
So I give a non serious answer..

Oh, and part of the civil rights protest was indeed about creating disruptions that inconvenienced other people.

16. The Civil Rights Movement was entirely different
Black people were being denied the right to vote and had no access to the political process. State and local governments were denying them their rights with the backing of a substantial portion of the populace.

OWS has elected not to participate in the political process. Nobody shut them out- it was their decision.

10. Answer the oldest question in the world:
"Cui bono?"

That is just the old variation of 'Follow the money.'

If this is your guide, it may be a long, tangled path to follow, but you will find your answer. AND it is very important not to stop at the lower levels where the trail seems to stop. There will be clues that will lead you to the group that is ultimately behind it all.
