I never do Black Fridays...
No cash, so I have to wait until pay day.

I also can't deal with crowds of crazy people. Because they're crazy.

Thank the time/space continuum for small miracles.

3. I have money. But I never shop on that day. I happened to be out and about.
Plenty people in restaurants. Was difficult to get a meal compared to other days. Lots of families out eating out, walking around and it looks like doing shopping.

4. I did back in the '70s.
We didn't call it "Black Friday" then; I could go to the mall, find everything I wanted in a short time, and had time for lunch and ice skating, too. It was a fun day. "Crowds" were smaller, less determined, less intense.

I quit going to malls sometime in the 80s, and can't remember the last time I shopped a "Black Friday." At least 2 decades, still before it was "black."

These days I don't buy much for xmas. My family shifted to a gift drawing about a decade ago; we draw one person to buy for with a strict budget, and we all buy for the one kid, which is fine; there aren't too many of us to buy for him, so we each get him one thing and he has plenty.

I generally take on the job of helping him make something for him to give to everyone. We've done baked goods, soaps, candles, ornaments, candle holders, snow globes...we need a fresh idea for this year.

Anybody have some fresh ideas for inexpensive gifts that kids can make?

8. Those are two great ideas to add to my list;
we've got several more years before he's old enough to manage gift-making on his own.

I'm also thinking about making salt scrubs.

5. I did Black Friday one time in 2000, but never again.
Now everyone just gets gift cards. They can be bought in the supermarkets and drug stores. It saves a lot of hassle.

6. If you want the best deals of the year, you can't beat black Friday

Generally everyone is well behaved and things are very orderly. You only hear about isolated incidents. I got a great deal on a laptop last year. In 08 when the crash happened but retailers didn't expect it and we're super overstocked I got some great deals.

But you gotta get paid first.
