Sirhan Sirhan's Lawyers Say He Didn't Kill RFK


Lawyers representing convicted assassin Sirhan Sirhan argue in new court documents that a bullet was switched in evidence at his trial and new forensic tests show he is innocent of the 1968 killing of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy.

The attorneys are seeking to overturn Sirhan's conviction. They said a bullet taken from Kennedy's neck was switched because its markings would have shown that it did not come from Sirhan's gun.

Lynda Gledhill, a spokeswoman for the California attorney general's office, which is handling the appeal, said prosecutors had no comment.

The lawyers say new audio tests on recordings from the assassination night show 13 bullets from multiple guns were fired. They say that's five more than Sirhan could have fired.
