For Divine Discontent
Edited on Mon Aug-06-12 06:17 AM by No Elephants
O8)

DD is one of the kindest posters I have observed anywhere; and I have posted on various boards since about 2004.

He is also one of the most politically reasonable posters I have come across, recognizing problems and maintaining his principles, but also supporting his candidates like nobody's business anyway.

He is also one of the bravest people I have come across.

Imagine living your life as a Native American liberal Democrat who is Christian and out gay. I cannot imagine the stuff he has had to put up with from society in general, from his fellow Christians because he is both liberal and gay, and from his fellow gays because he is Christian.

I cannot even begin to think about that totality without instinctively wanting to go into a fetal position. But DD does come across as living in a fetal position. He comes across as working and living always for what he believes in.

The fact that he can do that--and remind as kind and accepting of each of us and of everyone else--as he is just boggles my mind! And far from whining or giing up, he is unfailingly pleasant and engaged in life. How can you not love and admire him?

Each DU2er is, for different reasons, my hero. And DD certainly is no exception. Stay strong and be happy, friend!

"Just keep swimming", as Dori says in Finding Nemo!

Can you feel the hug!?

7. You're welcome. Please see Reply 6 too.
And yes, I feel the hug, DD. I feel the hug every single time you post to me, no matter what the post says. And I even feel it vicariously when you post to someone else.

I'm guessing other people do as well.

That is one of many reasons why you are loved on DU2. We all love hugs.

Sorry I left out my standard "tribute post" ending the first time around, but it is in Reply 6. Heck, it just would not be a NE post without mistakes! ,

13. Forgot to mention: once, when I was very sick, a friend told me to remember to just keep
Edited on Thu Aug-09-12 05:10 AM by No Elephants
putting one foot in front of the other. And,, it worked. I still remind myself sometimes!

Fr land mammals, "just keep putting one foot in front of the other" is very much like "just keep swimming" is for our fish Americans.

However, while the friend I am speaking about is very attractive, I have to say Nemo is probably cuter.

So, "Just keep swimming wins!"

Going this morning with my dear bro on our quarterly trip for his M.S. checkup, so I'll be bragging about you all, as I've done for years, and why I feel there's nothing quite like our old DU!

thanks, NYC_SKP

16. What you said about DD and what DD said about you.
Edited on Thu Aug-09-12 05:29 AM by No Elephants
Each of us was spot on about the other.

And what each of you says about the other only shows further what insightful and good people you both are.

6. Drat! I forgot to include my standard ending for this kind of post. Here it is:
We both want the country to go in a direction that is good for the 99%, so we are sister and brother, whether or not we agree on every small detail along the way.

I am proud to be posting with you!

15. I can't think of any specific disagreement
so far. But, there's always the possiblity of a first time!

No disagreement will change how I feel about you though.

You'll still be moral and political brother.

On the other hand, I am not too diplomatic when I disagree, so remember to duck, my brother!

14. Bless you right back.
Each of us is different. I have a mind that straightforwardly picks up certain things from the posts of posters of whom I am fond and retains them.

You have a mind that allows you to do incredibly creative and "layered" (for want of a better word) things.

The world needs all kinds of minds.

12. My apologies, folks.
I usually try to remember to qualify my statements, but I messed up this one badly.

I cannot imagine the stuff he has had to put up with from society in general, from his fellow Christians because he is both liberal and gay, and from his fellow gays because he is Christian.

Ther are many decent members of society, many decent Christians and many decent gays. In all three of those instances, I should have used the word "some" or some other qualifier.

Also, though, I should have added "some of his fellow Democrats" because some Democrats are intolerant of Christians and some are even intolerant of gays.

My apologies for both those omissions.
